Race 1 No. 5 THE SHAPER- ($2.05) 

THE SHAPER should be hard to beat in the opening race at Sandown. The Anthony & Sam Freedman-trained galloper has had just the two career starts and resumed at Sandown on March 6 over the 1300m, running on to just miss behind Quickster. He had a two length margin on the rest of them. The slight step up to the 1400m looks ideal and he should take improvement off his recent run.

Race 8 No.15 HAZEL BABY- ($4.20) 

HAZEL BABY can just about make it three wins in succession when she steps out in the final race of the day. The four-year-old has come back in excellent order, winning at Moonee Valley when resuming before arriving in time at Sandown on February 28 over the 1300m. The Ciaron Maher-trained galloper went 3.2 lengths faster than standard and will need to improve on that up to BenchMark 78 but should be nearing her peak third up, while she drops 4.5kg on her recent run.
