BEST BET 🏆
Race 7 No. 1 JACQUINOT- ($1.80)
Looking forward to the return of JACQUINOT in the Group 3 Manfred Stakes. The Price/Kent galloper comes off a four start spring campaign that saw him scorch to a first up win in the McNeil Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield before claiming the Golden Rose (1400m) at Rosehill. He was then a solid 5th in the Everest (1200m) before having a few things go against in the Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m). He went 8.5 lengths faster than standard when resuming last time and the 1300m should suit, while we must respect this stable. Damian Lane rides and strikes as 29% for them, providing a 20% profit on turnover for punters.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 1 No. 9 WAHINE TOA – ($4.60)
The opener sees the stayers go at it over the 2400m and no reason to suggest why WAHINE TOA shouldn’t be in the finish. The Maher/Eustace galloper has had four runs this time in and has landed in the top two in all of those. She was a strong winner at Moonee Valley over the 2500m two starts ago before making a long and sustained run last time when just missing out behind So Unusual, putting a gap on the rest of them. The six-year-old achieved a career peak last time by going more than nine lengths faster than standard benchmark, which is better than what any horse in this race has produced in the past two years. Stick with her.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 2 No. 6 RIOYUKI – ($4.60)
Keen on RIOYUKI in Race 2. The Matthew Williams-trained mare missed out in a head-bobber when resuming at Warrnambool before heading to Flemington on January 14 and filling the exacta behind Belle Et Riche. She was held up from the 500m to the 200m before easing out and flashing home to go three lengths faster than standard benchmark, which is the best last start figure of any runner. The daughter of Not A Single Doubt should have some scope for improvement at her third run back and this is well within her grasp.
