BEST BET 🏆

Race 4:  No.1  CONSTANTINOU  ($2.35 with Neds)

The Natalie Jarvis-trained CONSTANTINOU boasts a solid fresh record and first-up today looks the testing material in this event. Last start, the five-year-old mare was second-up when she broke through for her maiden win, here over 1000m. On a Heavy 8 that day, she revelled in the going and destroyed her opposition, putting more than three lengths on them over the line while posting the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the race. She meets similar opposition here and has Shaun Guymer returning for the ride. Up just 2kgs from that last start win, she looks set for back-to-back victories today.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 2:  No.3  SNAPPY JIM  ($3.50 with Palmerbet)

The Nick Olive-trained SNAPPY JIM has found his mojo at last and looks a strong chance to bring up the hat-trick today. Last start, the Squamosa gelding franked his maiden win two starts back by repeating the effort and taking out a Class 1/Maiden over 1600m at Narrandera. No race stats are available for that location but he led on settling and was able to hold off the challenges and hang on for a good win. Billy Owen is two from two with the four-year-old and sticks with him here. Despite the step-up to Class 2 company, the challenge here looks no harder and already a winner in heavy going, he looks a genuine contender in this contest.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 6:  No.11  LADY TABLOID  ($4.80 with bet365)

Nick Olive saddles-up LADY TABLOID here who is third-up and ticks enough boxes to be looked upon as a winning chance today. Last start, the Press Statement mare made it back-to-back podium finishes when she claimed third prize in a Class 1 Hcp over 1200m at Narrandera. She had no luck from the outset, trapped three-wide (no cover) most of the way while on-speed. On a wet track that day, she simply ran out of gas in the run home, unable to match it with the two that beat her home that day. Fitter for those two runs, she welcomes back Billy Owen to the saddle who steered the mare to her maiden win on this track. Well drawn here in gate four, she maps to settle in the first half dozen, with cover today, and already a winner and placed four times on wet tracks, she looks a real contender here at good odds.
