Race 1:  No.3  CASH REGISTER  ($2.90 with Neds)

Canberra trainer Barbara Joseph had loaded up the float for today’s meeting and she starts here with a couple runners engaged as we run with CASH REGISTER to take this out. Last start, the Pendragon gelding came off a first-up win in Class 2 company when he was only a whisker away from consecutive victories, taking home second prize in a BM58 Hcp over the mile. Both those runs were on this track where the five-year-old now has a 50% strike-rate. He takes on Class 3 company today over the 1600m again where he should be close to his peak, third-up. Quayde Krogh was aboard for that Class 2 win and returns here for this contest. The stable take the blinkers off again today and put the visors back on the gelding. With a trouble-free run here, he will take beating.

Race 7:  No.2  FACTORING PROFIT  ($5.50 with Palmerbet)

We finish the day off with a Maiden and well overdue for a win is FACTORING PROFIT who steps-up to the mile for the first time today and today could just be his day. Last start, the son of The Factor rung up his third minor placing in his past four starts when he took home third prize in a Queanbeyan Maiden over the 1460m journey. Beaten less than a length on the line, it was a slowly-run affair as he covered the trip, 10.6 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best in this line-up and a new personal best for him as well. Apprentice, Teaghan Martin retains the ride and claims 3kgs here, making the job a little easier. Racing without much luck of late, he looks well placed here and capable of breaking through today.

Race 4:  No.6  MERC  ($6 with Ladbrokes)

Another from the Joseph & Jones stable is MERC who is third-up today and looks ticks enough boxes here to be considered a real chance, at odds. Last start, the Knight Exemplar gelding also came off a first-up win (taking out a BM58 at Goulburn) when he faced similar company here over the 1000m sprint. On a soft track, he managed to grab third prize after having to weave through traffic to secure a clean run to the line. Drawn in gate five here, he maps to settle in the first half dozen and has Quayde Krogh back in the saddle after steering him to victory earlier in the year. The six-year-old has four podium finishes (including a win) from seven starts at the track and distance and already a winner when third-up, he looks good value here today.
