Race 2: No.3 UNZAGA ($2.45 with Ladbrokes)

Locally-trained by Paul Messara, UNZAGA travelled well with Aaron Bullock at Tamworth last start and looks a big chance at back-to-back victories here today. Last start, the Scissor Kick gelding came off an unplaced run in a Class 3 Hcp at Newcastle when he bounced back big time by destroying a Class 1/Maiden field over 2100m at the Tamworth track. Running the fastest final 600m, 400m and 200m sectionals, he put 2.5 lengths on them as he crossed the line for his second victory in nine career starts. Bullock sticks with him as he drops in grade today and now four starts into this preparation, he should be at his peak and will take beating here.

Race 3: No.1 SMILING PROPHET ($3.50 with Palmerbet)

Newcastle galloper SMILING PROPHET makes her track debut today and third-up, looks a serious player in this contest. Last start, the Divine Prophet filly came off a first-up Maiden win when she came very close to another win, beating all but one home in a Class 1 Hcp on her home track. She ran her last 600m, 3.2 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field, while recording the fastest final 600m, 400m and 200m sectionals for the race as well. Mikayla Weir has been aboard since the filly resumed and has the job again today. She gets the gun-run from gate one so the scene looks set for a big performance on her Scone debut.

Race 6: No.7 ELARSKI ($3.60 with Palmerbet)

Kris Lees saddles-up ELARSKI here who is second-up and in search of back-to-back wins today. Last start, the Hallowed Crown mare resumed after a 16-week spell and on fresh legs, proved too good for her rivals in a BM58 Hcp over 1250m at Taree. Travelling wide without cover to the turn, she still had too many guns for them and won well. Two previous second-up runs ended in top-two finishes and she is nicely drawn in gate four today. Aaron Bullock remains in the saddle for today’s assignment and she looks the one to beat.
