Locally-trained by Brett Cavanough, BONJOUR RUPERT is off to a flying start with three-straight top-three finishes and looks well placed here on his home track to go on with it today. Last start, the Winning Rupert gelding came off his Maiden win at Armidale and almost made it back-to-back wins when he beat all but one home in a BM58 Hcp over 1150m at Newcastle. He ran his last 600m, 3.1 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best last-start effort here and posted the fastest final 800m, 400m and 200m sectionals for the race. Ash Morgan has been in charge for his past two runs and sticks with him here. Ideally drawn in gate three, he maps to settle in the first half-dozen with cover and a clear run to the line should see him challenging strongly for the main prize today.

Brett Cavanough saddles-up JUST STROLLING in this contest and has most boxes ticked to suggest he is a main contender here. Last start, the Exceed And Excel gelding was fresh off an 18-week spell when he impressed by finishing strongly to end up in sixth place in a Class 2 Hwy Hcp over 1100m at Rosehill. Beaten a tick over two lengths, he ran a new personal best, covering the trip, 2.4 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best effort among these by more than 3 lengths. He also recorded the fastest final 400m and 200m sectionals for the race. Already a winner when second-up, he is yet to miss a top-two finish in three starts on his home track and will take beating here again.
