Race 1 No. 9 KOWHAI – ($3.35) 

Nice improvement by KOWHAI stepping up in trip when runner-up over the 2000m at Pakenham on April 4 and the Mike Moroney can go one spot better in the opener at Seymour. At her most recent start, the daughter of Sacred Falls was stepping up from the 1600m and settled back in the field of 12 before closing off steadily behind Infinity Imperial. She went 1.4 lengths slower than standard benchmark and only the Freedman-trained Samurai has produced anything similar. She has the fitness under the belt and can go on with it.

Race 8 No. 6  MISHARE- ($) 

MISHARE can go close in the final race of the day. The Bevan Laming-trained galloper was well beaten into 3rd position by War Machine when resuming but that form looks good now with the winner going on to claim the Bendigo Guineas (1400m), while the runner-up has since gone on to score at Ararat. The 5th placegetter has also gone on to score. Mishare was last of the five runners in that race before producing the fastest last 200m, going 2.9 lengths slower than standard benchmark, which is just a length off the best last start figure of any runner in this race. Second up last time, the daughter of Overshare improved nine lengths on figures to score. She draws perfectly in barrier 4 for this assignment.
