BEST BET 🏆

Race 1:  No.4  NIGHT PATRA

The Rod Northam-trained NIGHT PATRA is racing into some form of late and looks well placed here to give this contest a real shake. Last start, the Bon Hoffa gelding made it back-to-back runner-up prizes when he beat all but one home in a BM58 over the mile at Scone. Regular rider, Grant Buckley was aboard that day and steers the ship for this assignment. Four starts back, he will be at his peak for this and already a track and distance winner, he can take home the chocolates today.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 5:  No.3  HOMBRE

Local trainer, Cody Morgan saddles-up HOMBRE here who is third-up today and looking for back-to-back wins. Last start, the Exceed And Excel gelding led from barrier to box in a dominant performance, winning the Class 1 Hcp by three lengths on the line. Shannen Llewellyn is the new pilot today and she brings with her a 4kg claim which sees the five-year-old carry less weight than that last-start win. Nicely drawn in gate four, he maps to settle in the first half-dozen and already a track and distance winner, looks in the mix here today.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 7:  No.10  STING JET

The Brett Cavanough-trained STING JET is second-up today and looks set to give his all in this Championship Qualifier and go back-to-back here. Last start, the well-bred So You Think gelding resumed off a five-month break when he came from near last in a 13-strong field to grab victory on the line against Class 4 company over 1200m at Scone. Jumping from the outside gate, Braith Nock rode him patiently from the back and did well in the end to clock 1:09 for the 1200m. Up against Class 5 company here, he draws nicely in gate four and has Nock remaining aboard for this contest. It is his biggest test to date but he is already a two-time winner when second-up and looks well worth an each-way ticket today.
