Race 5 : No. 4 OSMAN ($5 with Palmerbet)
Mudgee galloper OSMAN sees the Tamworth track for the first time today but does bring an impressive resume with him. Last start, the American Pharoah gelding destroyed his Class 1 rivals over the 1400m trip at Forbes. Drawing gate 11 (of 14), he drove to the lead on settling and in the run home, left them all to fight out the minors as he crossed the line almost three lengths ahead of field. Clayton Gallagher was on board that day and is backing up here for his second ride on the four-year-old. He gets the gun-run from gate three today and maps to settle just behind the pace. Now four runs back, he should be at his peak and will take beating here.

Race 7 : No. 7 EMISSIVE ($4 with bet365)
Scone galloper EMISSIVE is second-up here and showed enough on fresh legs to suggest she can go one better today. Last start, the Swiss Ace mare resumed off a 17-week spell when she beat all but one home in a Class 1 Hcp, here over 1000m. She ran home strongly enough to record the fastest final 600m and 400m sectionals for the race. Rory Hutchings has his second ride on the mare today and fitter for that first-up effort, she looks a big chance to go one better here.

Race 6 : No. 8 KANALAIDE ($7 with Palmerbet)
Locally-trained by Cody Morgan, KANALAIDE is second-up today and on his home track lines-up as a winning chance at odds here. Last start, the Adelaide gelding was fresh off a lengthy 22-week break when he finished a creditable fifth in a Class 2, here over 1200m. He covered the last 600m, 2.8 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field. Already a winner at the track, he will strip fitter for that first-up effort and facing weaker company here, he looks a touch over the odds today and is well worth an each-way ticket.
