Race 6: No.6 AUZSTAR ($3.50 with Neds)

Trained at Port Macquarie by Marc Quinn, AUZSTAR hasn’t missed a podium finish this preparation and fitter for two runs back, looks the goods in this contest. Last start, the Zoustar gelding came off a first-up on his home track when he finished a close-up third in a BM66, here over the 1000m sprint. He covered the trip, even with benchmark that day, the best last-start effort in this line-up. Facing similar company today, he steps-up in distance which looks ideal after those first two runs. Ideally drawn in gate three, he maps to settle just behind the speed and with a clear run to the line, he should prove hard to out today.

Race 4: No.2 FULL PRESS ($2.30 with Palmerbet)

Coffs Harbour galloper FULL PRESS has been here twice previously with out success but currently in career-best form, that can all chance today. Last start, the Press Statement gelding clobbered his rivals in a BM58 over 1550m at Murwillumbah with Jasper Franklin on board. He posted the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the race while crossing the line more than three lengths ahead of them. He steps up in grade here but after Franklin’s claim, he carries 5kgs less for this contest. His third appearance here today could turn out to be a case of ‘third time lucky’.
