The Wayne Wilkes-trained REATEROS is in great touch after three starts this time in and down in grade here, looks a genuine winning chance in this contest. Last start, the Artie Schiller gelding was third-up when he beat all but one home in a BM66 Hcp over 1100m at Port Macquarie. He ran his last 600m, 2.7 lengths quicker than benchmark and recorded the fastest final 800m, 400m and 200m sectionals as well. Jeff Penza is booked for today’s event and with a trouble-free run here, the four-year-old looks the one to beat.

Race 5: No.9 KING KIKAU ($6.50 with Palmerbet)
The locally-trained KING KIKAU is second-up today and looks well placed here for another home-track victory. Last start, the Scissor Kick gelding was fresh off a lengthy six-month absence when he did well to finish just behind the placegetters in a Class 1 Hcp, here over 1300m. Beaten just half a length that day, he ran his last 600m 3 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best last-start effort here and posted the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the race. Fitter for that run today, Mikayla Weir is back aboard today and ideally drawn in gate four, we should see plenty of improvement from him.
