Race 3 : No. 4 IDLING BY ($2.70 with Palmerbet)
Trained at the track by Mark Currie, IDLING BY hasn’t run a bad race this preparation and this contest looks ideal for her tonight. Last start, the Real Impact mare travelled north to Mackay where she wasn’t disgraced, finishing fourth in a BM60 Hcp over 1800m. That was her first run beyond the mile this preparation and her first look at the track. She ran the last 600m, 1.8 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field. She also posted the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the race, despite missing a podium finish. Back on her home track tonight, she should find this a little easier. Ideally drawn in gate three, she maps to be in the first four on settling and should take beating from there.

Race 1 : No. 5 BOOM BY BY ($4.40 with bet365)
The locally-trained BOOM BY BY is in great touch this preparation and ticks enough boxes here to take this out. Last start, the Spirit Of Boom gelding came off his maiden win and stepped-up to a Class 2 contest where he beat all but one home over 1200m at Warwick. He ran his last 600m, 2.3 lengths quicker than benchmark, second only to Whistle Hoff (who is second emergency and draws wide here and is yet to be confirmed as a starter). Jake Molloy retains the ride and makes the job easier with a 2kg claim. He maps to settler in the first half-dozen from gate six and looks right in the mix in this company.

Race 2 : No. 6 MR BROSE ($4.20 with Palmerbet)
The Don Baker-trained MR BROSE has found the podium in three of his past four starts and looks set to be up there again tonight. Last start, the Golden Archer gelding beat all but one home in a strong Class 4 over 1200m at Ipswich. He covered the trip, 2.8 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best here more than 2 lengths. He is a two-time winner here and now four starts into this campaign, he should be at his peak for this. Ideally drawn in gate four, he maps to settle just off the pace and with a clear run home, should be fighting out the finish tonight.
