BEST BET 🏆

Race 3:  No.5  RAVAGED AWARD  ($2.25 with BlueBet)

The Mark Currie-trained RAVAGED AWARD has returned in top-shelf form and back on her home track today, she looks the testing material here. Last start, the Shamus Award mare was second-up when she beat all but one to the line in a BM68 Hcp over 1200m at Ipswich. She had no luck in the run, trapped three-deep without cover to the turn. In the run home, Jake Molloy switched her back to the inside but when that gap closed, he pulled her wide again where she flew home to miss by a whisker on the line. Better drawn today in gate three, Angela Jones has her first ride on the four-year-old and already a two-time winner here, the mare looks a good thing in this contest.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 2:  No.2  COBURG  ($8 with Palmerbet)

Locally-trained by Kevin Kemp, COBURG is three starts into this preparation and now looks ready to win. Last start the Xtravagant gelding was a whisker away from his first victory when he took home second prize in a 1000m Maiden Hcp at the Sunshine Coast. With Montanna Savva aboard that day, he was sent out as a $15 chance and sat outside the leader and odds-on favourite (Rubunkar). He kept chasing all the way home but came up half a length short on the line. Today he gets the gun-run from gate one and maps to be box-seating on settling. Fitter for those three runs back, a clear run to line today should see him threaten for victory here.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 5:  No.5  SPIRIT OF BEANS  ($8.10 with BoomBet)

Eagle Farm galloper SPIRIT OF BEANS sees the Toowoomba track for the first time today and three starts into this campaign, looks a sound chance for victory here at odds. Last start, the Spill The Beans gelding was third-up and proved too strong for them in a Class 2 Hcp over the mile at Ipswich. With Les Tilley back on board that day, he rode him an absolute treat, settling the galloper in the one,one and finishing best in a blanket finish across the line. Tilley has steered the four-year-old to all three of his career victories and retains the ride for today’s contest. Ideally drawn in gate two, he looks a solid chance of making his Toowoomba debut a winning one at generous odds.
