BEST BET 🏆
Race 4: No.1 CHASING JACKLEY ($1.90 with Unibet)
He is in red figures here but the locally-trained CHASING JACKLEY is overdue for a win and looks set to make it happen tonight. Last start, the Unusual Suspect gelding finished bridesmaid again when he beat all but one home in an Ipswich Maiden over the mile. Jumping from the car park in gate 15 (of 15), he ran the trip out, 6.4 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best here by more than 5 lengths. James Orman had him settled outside the leader from the outset (after crossing from barrier rise) and tried to steal it when taking off at the 600m mark. But he found one better on the day (Montana May, who has since finished second in a BM64 at the Gold Coast) and had to settle for second prize on the day. Ideally drawn in gate two, he maps to be box-seating on settling and after the claim, carries 3.5kgs less than last start tonight. Bookies look to have it right here.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 2: No.2 DIS GO BOOM ($4 with Palmerbet)
The Lindsay Hatch-trained DIS GO BOOM is second-up here and boasting a strong track record, looks the one to beat here. Last start, the Spirit Of Boom gelding was never a winning chance but finished strongly to grab third prize in an unsuitable 1100m contest, here on his home track. He ran out his last 600m, 2.5 lengths quicker than benchmark, the second-best effort in this field behind Hail To The Chief who has drawn wide here and has some work to do from gate ten. Jake Molloy was aboard for that first-up effort and has the job again tonight. He maps to settle in the first half-dozen from gate four and fitter for that fresh run and up in trip, he looks the testing material in this contest.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 5: No.6 SHE’S A TIGRESS ($9 with bet365)
The Chris Anderson-trained SHE’S A TIGRESS returns from a failed city class run here and back in her comfort zone looks a little over the odds for this event. Last start, the Better Than Ready mare came off a good win in BM62 company at the Gold Coast when she faced a NMW Hcp over the 1000m at Eagle Farm. Trying to lead all the way, she ran out of puff and was swamped, and with no chance of a podium finish, Adin Thompson eased her down in the closing stages. She ran the trip, 4.3 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best in this line-up. Georgie Cartwright finished top-two in her previous two rides on the mare and is back to tackle tonight’s contest. Yet to miss a podium finish in four starts at the track, she lines up here a genuine winning chance at odds.
