Race 6: No.5 MATTERHORN ($3 with bet365)
Cairns-based galloper MATTERHORN is in great touch of late and ticks all the boxes here to suggest he is the one to beat in this contest. Last start, the Swiss Ace gelding came from behind to take out a BM70 Hcp, here over the 1000m sprint. He ran his last 600m, 3.5 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this line-up. He also posted the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for that race. Ryan Wiggins was aboard that day and sticks with him here. Ideally drawn in gate three today, he maps to be parked right behind the pace and with a clear run to the line, he should prove mighty hard to hold out in this contest.

Race 4: No.4 SARANDOS ($4.40 with bet365)
The locally-trained galloper SARANDOS has been in good touch this time in and down in grade today, looks the goods in this contest. Last start, the I Am Invincible gelding fought like a caged tiger but found the Class 3 gallopers just a little too strong in the end. With Ryan Wiggins aboard, he boxed-on well to take home third prize in the event. Today, Wiggins sticks with him as he drops back to Class 2 opposition and comes back to the 1000m where he is already a two-time winner. He has success at the track and the distance and this looks like a golden opportunity for Wiggins to bring up his first win on the galloper.

Race 5: No.4 OUR ALICIA’S LANE ($4.20 with Ladbrokes)
Locally-trained by Ben Williams, OUR ALICIA’S LANE is a Cluden Park figurehead boasting seven wins on the track and looks a genuine chance here to add another victory to her resume today. Last start, the Real Saga mare faced Open class company where she stormed home to grab victory on the line, here in a 1400m contest. She ran the trip, 2.5 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best in this field. She also recorded the fastest final 800m and 400m sectionals for the race. Ideally drawn in gate two, she gets the gun-run and has last-start winning rider Melea Castle sticking with her as well. With a track record as good as hers, she looks good value in this line-up today.
