BEST BET 🏆
Race 1: No.1 HEROIC BOY ($3.20 with bet365)
The Roy Chillemi-trained HEROIC BOY is in great touch this preparation and with a solid record at the Cluden Park track, looks the testing material in this contest. Last start, the Heroic Valour gelding found one a little better on the day when finishing second in a 3-Y-O Hcp over 1250m at Cairns. He still ran his last 600m, 4.5 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best here and posted the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the race. Nathan Day has the job here and from gate four, the three-year-old maps to settle right behind the pace. Both career wins have come on this track where he has six podium finishes from seven starts at the 1200m here. Conditions are ideal and with a trouble-free run, he will take beating today.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 7: No.1 LOVE IS BLIND ($4.80 with Palmerbet)
Roy Chillemi saddles-up LOVE IS BLIND here who is also a track specialist and looks all set for back-to-back victories today. Last start, the Love Conquers All gelding came off a disappointing run in the Cairns Newmarket (1400m) and turned it all around when taking out the Cairns Amateur Sprint over the same distance. Carrying 1.5kgs over his allotted weight, Les Tilley settled him off the pace which paid dividends in the end as he finished best to claim a half length win on the line and take out the $75,000 feature race of the day. Today, he has Rachel Shred back aboard who has a hot strike-rate with him, boasting two wins and a minor placing from her three previous rides on the six-year-old. If he brings that last-start form with him today, he will take a ton of beating here today.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 3: No.8 HE WILL ACHEEV ($5.50 with Ladbrokes)
Local galloper HE WILL ACHEEV has been in the money at his past four starts and looks well placed here to continue the good work today. Last start, the Anacheeva gelding came off his maiden win at Mackay when he beat all but one home in a BM60, here at his second attempt over the mile trip. He ran it out, 4.5 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best in this field and a new personal best as well. Isabella Teh sticks with him here and after her 3kg claim, he carries just 51kgs, which is 3kgs under the limit. From gate four, he maps to settle on-speed and with the light weight, he will take some running down today.
