Race 5:  No.3  LADY CHARTWELL  ($3.10 with Palmerbet)

Kris Lees saddles-up LADY CHARTWELL here who looks the testing material in this event. Last start, the Churchill filly made it back-to-back runner-up finishes when she beat all but one to the line in a 1300m Maiden at Taree. Things didn’t go her way that day and did well to finish as close as she did, beaten just half a length on the line. Aaron Bullock sticks with her today as she drops in weight and gets the gun-run from gate one. She maps to be box-seating on settling and with a clear run home, she should prove hard to tackle today.

Race 1:  No.2  MISS SANTORINI  ($3.60 with bet365)

The Kris Lees-trained MISS SANTORINI has been knocking on the door of late and gets her chance here with conditions to suit. Last start, the Eurozone mare was fourth-up and did well to finish third in a BM58 Hcp over 1750m at Muswellbrook. She fought on strongly to the line on an unfavourable Good 3 that day. Here, she gets a Soft 7 to race on where both career wins have been achieved. Aaron Bullock sticks with her and from gate six, she maps to settle in the first half-dozen. Fitter for recent racing, she looks a genuine contender here.

Race 7:  No.2  UGLY NICOS  ($4.60 with Neds)

Port Macquarie galloper UGLY NICOS resumes here after an 18-month absence but after several trials, he looks ready to cut loose on fresh legs. Last start, the Fastnet Rock gelding settled in the box seat and travelled well to the turn. But in the run home, found nothing and beat just two home in the 14-strong field. Paddock-bound since then, he returned to work in May, running five trials since then, winning his past two. He has drawn wide (13) for his long-awaited return and will need a bit of luck from there, but he has Ben Looker aboard (who rode him to his latest trial win) who has enough experience to deal with that situation. If he brings his trial form here today, he could prove hard to beat.
