BEST BET 🏆

Race 5:  No.6  MISS ATHENA  ($4.50 with Ladbrokes)

The Wodonga-based MISS ATHENA is on fire this time in and the indications are she will keep the trend going here today. Last start, the Not A Single Doubt mare sealed her fifth-straight podium finish when she beat all but one home in a BM58 Hcp over the mile on a heavy Echuca track. That was the fourth time she took home second prize . She steps a grade today but sheds 3kgs for the contest and welcomes back Louise Day who rode her to victory here in a Class 1/Maiden Plate three starts back. She gets the gun-run from gate one today and maps to be box-seating on settling. Already a winner here, she looks the testing material.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 6:  No.5  RIDDLERO  ($4 with bet365)

Victorian galloper RIDDLERO returns to Wagga today and third-up here looks in the mix for victory. Last start, the Bon Hoffa gelding finished fifth in a 14-strong Open Hcp over 1175m at Albury. He covered that trip, 4.6 lengths slower than benchmark, the best last-start effort here by more than 2 lengths. He drops in grade today with Tahlia Hope sticking with him after establishing a solid relationship that boasts nine rides for two wins and four other podium finishes. He has to overcome the outside gate today but it shouldn’t pose a big problem in the small(ish) field. Unbeaten in two third-up appearances to date, he looks a genuine player today.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 7:  No.10  PRETTY EXTREME   (Scratched)
