BEST BET 🏆
Race 4: No.3 SPIRITLY ($4.80 with Unibet)
Goulburn galloper SPIRITLY has improved greatly since his first two starts and now looks to go on with it here. Last start, the Eurozone gelding was coming off his Maiden win at the Sapphire Coast where he took on a Class 1/Maiden at Queanbeyan and beat all but one home in the 1600m event. Ridden a treat by Amy McLucas, he took a sit in the run, then came off heels to finish strongly, beaten less than half a length on the line. That was just his fourth race start and he will no doubt strip even fitter here. Its Jeff Penza’s turn to take the reins today and with a trouble-free run, he looks the testing material.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 6: No.5 TSUNAMI SAM ($6 with Neds)
The Lindsay Park galloper TSUNAMI SAM is in great touch of late and looks a prime contender for the major prize here. Last start, the Shamexpress gelding came off victory, here in the Mad Scramble, when he had no luck at Gundagai in the Snake Gully Flying Hcp, still finishing third in the event. Missing the start by two lengths, he weaved a passage through traffic on straightening, but the leader had already taken off for the prize, leaving ‘Sam’ with third money on the day. Jet Stanley rode him to that victory in the Mad Scramble and returns for today’s challenge. Drawn well in gate five, he maps to settle near mid-field with cover. All he needs here is some clean air when they turn, and should be right there at the finish.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 2: No.4 TULLAGHAN ($7 with Palmerbet)
The Mitchell Beer-trained TULLAGHAN is five starts into this preparation and finding his mojo here last start suggests he is big chance at back-to-back victories today. His fist four runs this campaign only saw one podium finish, when he finished third at Narrandera when second-up, but the Al Maher gelding turned it all around when last start (on this track) he finished best to claim victory in a BM58 Hcp over 1675m. Sent out a $3 favourite that day, Nick Souquet steered him to a solid win. Already a winner over 2000m, the step up to the 1800m today won’t be an issue. Souquet has the reins again and with less weight to carry today, he looks a real threat here.
