Race 7 No. 8 SAVVY SOVEREIGN- ($3)

This looks to be a winnable assignment for SAVVY SOVEREIGN. The Maher/Eustace galloper resumed at Casterton on November 8 and led the field of 10 at what was a fast tempo in relation to this grade. She stuck on well in the straight but was just run down late by Grassmere Jewel and Wicklow Lass, finishing half a length off the winner. The 4th placegetter out of that race has since scored at Kyneton. Savvy Sovereign sticks to BM58 and worth noting that she was runner-up to Star Patrol at Flemington at her last preparation, albeit by seven lengths. Second up at her last preparation she improved to narrowly miss out at Hamilton and the daughter of Savabeel just needs to overcome the wide barrier to be a major threat here.

Race 2 No. 8 WINNING AURA– ($4.80)

Solid debut from WINNING AURA at Mornington a fortnight ago and the Clayton Douglas-trained galloper can go a few spots better at his second career start after finishing 4th behind Pride of Limassol. That came over the 1000m and the son of Winning Rupert settled back in the field of nine before producing the second fastest last 200m off what was a slow early tempo to land just over a length from the winner. He should be better for that experience and the 1.5kg claimer, Celine Gaudry, sticks on board.
