Wangaratta Tips 12/09/2022

BEST BET 🏆

Race 1 No. 3 EQUIVOCAL – ($1.60)

EQUIVOCAL should be hard to beat in the opening event of the day at Wangaratta. The Busuttin/Young galloper has had two career starts and was 4th on Cox Plate day in the Inglis Banner (1000m) on debut before fading the likes of Sebonack a bit too hot in the Chairmans Stakes (1000m) after that. She appears for the first time since then and comes in with a recent trial. Back sharply in grade, this should be a confidence booster.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 3 No. 1 GRISBI’S PAL – ($3.80)

This might be the one for the 12-start Maiden, GRISBI’S PAL. The four-year-old took a bit of time to get going this preparation but has placed at his past three starts. Last time out he appeared at Wodonga and couldn’t quite match the promising Diamond Model, filling the exacta behind that horse but putting a bit of a gap on the rest. The four-year-old went four lengths slower than standard benchmark in that race and comes in with the best last start figures of any runner. A firmer in the early betting, he will be ridden by Tahlia Hope from barrier 6.

BEST VALUE 💰(EACH-WAY)

Race 8 No. 6 UPPER EAST SIDE – ($8)

We close off with a BenchMark 58 over the 1100m and UPPER EAST SIDE can register an overdue win. The Nathan Hobson-trained galloper has been solid on wet tracks of late and was unlucky when placing at both Bendigo and Donald before heading back to Bendigo on August 25 and finishing runner-up behind Lovin Laughs. He made his run on the slower part of the Heavy track that day to just miss. The son of Manhattan Rain should enjoy a nice run from barrier 3 with Craig Newitt to ride and we can expect the pair to be strong late in the piece.
