Race 7 No. 5 MRS CHRISSIE– ($1.75)
Going with MRS CHRISSIE at her first run back from a spell. The Maher/Eustace galloper has had just the three career starts and was put away after smashing her opposition at Cranbourne on debut back in March last year. She resumed in an 1100m fillies race at Caulfield on July 9 and was taken on a long way out before finishing a half a length 4th behind Ojosan. She was then caught in the worst past of the track on Soft going at her only other run. The newcomer to the stable has some figures that stack up very well in comparison to this lot. Expect her to be ready to go.

Race 8 No. 5 SPIRIT OF PEPIN – ($11)
SPIRIT OF PEPIN can end the day a winner. The four-year-old resumed off a long break at Flemington on the Rapid Racing day and settled back in the field of 14. He looked to be working into it but was shuffled back then held up from the 400m until the 200m before running on solidly to finish 6th. He will strip fitter for this and the 1200m should suit, while it is worth noting that his peak performance came at Warrnambool in late 2021 when scoring over the 1000m.
