Race 1 No. 7 BAVICIA- ($1.85)

We open up with a Maiden over the 1600m and I am willing to take the short price on BAVICIA. The Tony & Calvin McEvoy-trained galloper has been smashed in the early betting and comes in with a couple of minor placings under his belt. He stormed home at Pakenham two starts ago before heading to Bendigo and overcoming traffic when just missing behind Silver Up, with those two putting a gap on the rest. Look for him to go one better this time around.

Race 3 No. 8 SPLENDID CHAP- ($3.80)

SPLENDID CHAP is another that can break the maiden early on the Warrnambool programme. The Symon Wilde-trained galloper has had four starts for three minor placings and couldn’t quite reel in Silver Up at Bendigo over the 1600m at the most recent of those. The son of Tivaci went 0.4 lengths slower than standard benchmark, which is three lengths better than what any horse in this race has produced. He draws wide but gets the steer from John Allen, who will look to land in the running line.

Race 7 No. 1 PRINCETON AWARD- ($5)

PRINCETON AWARD can just about make it back to back wins when he steps out in Race 7. Another from the Symon Wilde stable, the four-year-old worked home well down the outside to score at Ararat on November 29 when stepping up to the 2000m for the first time. He looks like he can handle the rise to BM64 and just needs to get off to a better start this time around.
