BEST BET 🏆
Race 2: No.1 SHALAILED ($4.40 with Unibet)
The John O’Shea-trained SHALAILED is second-up today and ticking most boxes looks set to shine. Last start, the Shalaa colt was first-up and impressive (without winning) when he hit the line well enough to grab fourth prize in a BM72 Hcp, here over 1200m. They ran 1:09.4 that day as he crossed the line less than a length from the winner. He covered the trip, 2.9 lengths quicker than benchmark, a new personal best and the best last-start effort here by 3 lengths. Reece Jones sticks with him here and while drawing the outside gate, he maps to settle near mid-field with cover. Already a winner when second-up and in heavy going, he lines-up here a genuine contender in this contest.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 8: No.9 MONEY FROM THE SKY ($5 with Palmerbet)
The Mark Newnham-trained MONEY FROM THE SKY impressed when resuming and looks poised to go one better today. Last start, the well-bred Frankel galloper came off a lengthy five-month break and caught the eye when coming from last on the turn to beat all but one home in a Class 1 Hcp over 1500m at Kembla Grange. Beaten less than a length on the line, he covered his final 600m, 6.3 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this line-up. He also recorded the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the race. Josh Parr has his third ride on him today and stepping up to the mile should suit. Already a winner when second-up and in heavy going, he should take beating today.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 5: No.7 MISS MADISON ($9.50 with Neds)
Second-up today, the Bjorn Baker-trained turned plenty of heads with her first-up effort and is a real chance of figuring here again. Last start, the Astern mare was fresh off a 19-week absence when she came from last to grab third money in a BM72 Hcp, here over 1300m. Unwanted in the betting that day ($41), she covered her last 600m, 6.6 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field. Rachel King returns here for her fourth ride on the mare and from gate five, does no early work. Placed twice in heavy going and fitter for that first-up effort, she lines-up here looking a solid each-way investment for the event.
