Race 3:  No.4  SUIT OF ARMOUR

The John O’Shea-trained SUIT OF ARMOUR is high-flying this time in and looks well placed here to bring up the hat-trick today. Last start, the Camelot gelding made it back-to-back wins when he out-muscled them in a Class 1 set weights contest over 2000m at Kembla Grange. This is his toughest test to date as he steps up to the 2400m for the first time. He has the services of James McDonald today and drops a little in weight as well. He won his maiden by two lengths on a wet track two starts back so the conditions will suit today. At his peak after four starts this campaign, he should prove hard to beat here.

Race 4:  No.5  VINOLASS 

The Keith Dryden-trained VINOLASS comes to town for the first time and unbeaten in three starts, looks poised to keep her winning streak going today. Last start, the Supido mare came off back-to-back wins at Wagga and Canberra when she made it a hat-trick by destroying them in a BM58 over 1008m at the Sapphire Coast. With Olivia Chambers aboard, she was sent out a white-hot $1.40 favourite and for very good reason as she reached the cutaway rail and was off for the prize, putting 5.5 lengths on them across the line. Its all been country form til now and she clashes with a smart one in Tycoon Jenny (who is also resuming today) but from gate two, she maps to be box-seating on settling and will have the last crack at them form there. She is two from two when first-up and should be there at the finish.

Race 7:  No.12  THE EXTREME CAT

Nathan Doyle saddles-up THE EXTREME CAT here who is making his city debut and down in the weights today, can give this contest a real shake at odds. Last start, the Extreme Choice gelding came off back-to-back wins at Coffs Harbour and Gosford when he took home third prize in a BM68 over 1200m at Wyong. He drew wide and was slowly away, forcing Koby Jennings to make him work early where he eventually found himself uncharacteristically in front on settling. He gave his all in the lead but succumbed to the pressure in the final 100m, still sticking on for that minor prize. He steps up in grade again today but does get weight relief and has Ash Morgan returning for the ride who is two from two on the gelding’s back. Ideally drawn in gate four, he maps to settle in the first half-dozen and looks well worth an each-way ticket today.
