BEST BET 🏆
Race 7: No.7 LASCARS ($5 with BlueBet)
The James Cummings-trained LASCARS is third-up today and should now be fit enough to threaten this field for the winner’s cheque here. Last start, the Sepoy gelding was still in need of the run when finishing third in a BM72, here over the 1000m sprint. He loomed-up three wide to challenge on straightening but just petered out over the final 100m, still boxing-on to claim the bronze medal that day. This will be his third start on NSW tracks and his second here. Already a winner when third-up, the Godolphin galloper gets the gun-run from gate one today and looks the one to beat here.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 5: No.6 BITCOIN BABY ($5.50 with Ladbrokes)
Rosehill galloper BITCOIN BABY is in career-best form this time in and looks right in this contest today. Last start, the Sooboog mare made the trek north to Eagle Farm where she beat all but one home in a BM78 Hcp over 1200m. She zipped through her last 600m, 7.5 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best last-start effort here. Now back in Sydney, Brett Prebble takes the reins again as the four-year-old draws ideally in gate two today. Already a winner at the track, she should be at her peak now after five starts this time in and looks a sound investment for victory today.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 6: No.3 RUNNING BEAR ($10 with Palmerbet)
Muswellbrook galloper RUNNING BEAR has proven to be a real punter’s pal to date and today looks a genuine winning chance at each-way odds. Last start, the Your Song mare came off a runner-up finish in Class 3 company at Randwick when she finished second again, this time in a strong Class 5 Championship Qualifier over 1400m at Tamworth. She looked the winner with 100m left but was grabbed by a swooper late in the peace. The ever-consistent mare has missed a top-two finish just once in her past eight starts who loves the 1400m trip, finishing top-two in all five starts over the distance. She has won in soft and heavy going previously so a forecast Soft 7 today should pose as no problem. Ideally drawn in gate four, she has regular rider Ash Morgan sticking with her and currently at double -figures, looks worthy of an each-way ticket today.
