BEST BET 🏆
Race 3: No.4 COOL KAAP ($3.60 with Unibet)
Chris Waller saddles-up a couple here as we go with COOL KAAP who is second-up today and yet to miss a top-two finish. Last start, the American Pharoah colt came off a 14-week spell where he finished second in a Three-Year-Old Hcp over 1250m on a Heavy 10 at Canterbury. He finished off strongly that day, running his last 600m, 7.3 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best last-start effort here. He also recorded the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the race. Hugh Bowman has the reins today (in the absence of James McDonald, who is riding at Geelong today) and drawn the fence, he looks the one to beat.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 5: No.4 MONEY FROM THE SKY ($2.50 with bet365)
The Mark Newnham-trained MONEY FROM THE SKY is a deserved pre-post favourite here and has the runs on the board to suggest he can go back-to-back today. Last start, the well-bred son of Frankel was ridden a half kilo over but still managed to get the job done when he beat home a BM72 field, here over the mile. With Josh Parr aboard, he posted the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for his half-length victory that day. He is (now) a track and distance winner and has Parr sticking with him today. Meeting similar company here, he comes up with gate two and looks the one to beat again.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 4: No.2 MISS MADISON ($4.20 with BlueBet)
The Bjorn Baker-trained MISS MADISON has hit the ground running this time in and looks a solid chance for back-to-back wins today. Last start, the Astern mare improved off her first-up podium finish by taking out a BM78, here over 1400m. With Rachel King on board, she box-seated to the turn, then coming off the leader’s heels, took control and went on to a comfortable win in the end. She ran her last 600m, 4.4 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field and posted the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the race as well. Both her career wins have come on soft tracks so the Soft 5 forecast for today looks ideal. Stepping up to the mile today, but down in grade, King sticks with her and getting the gun-run from gate one, she looks a solid winning chance again at odds today.
