BEST BET 🏆

Race 4:  No.10  JUNQUEIRA  ($1.90 with Palmerbet)

John O’Shea saddles-up JUNQUEIRA here who comes in nicely at the weights and looks the one to beat. Last start, the Capitalist filly was second-up when she gave her rivals a galloping lesson, taking out a QITS Three-Year-Old Hcp at Eagle Farm. She wound up putting 2.5 lengths on the 12-strong field that day with James McDonald in the saddle. She covered the 1200m, 3.6 lengths quicker than benchmark, second-best here behind Atlantic Ocean who is fresh off a break today. Ideally drawn in gate two, the three-year-old does no early work and J.Mac sticks with her for this event. With a trouble-free run here, she take beating today.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 6:  No.6  ZAIN’S GIRL  ($10 with Neds)

The Mark Newnham-trained ZAIN’S GIRL is third-up today and on a softer track today, looks a solid each-way chance here. Last start, the Zoustar mare came off an impressive first-up win at Randwick when she finished mid-field here in a BM72 Hcp, here on a firmer Good 3 surface. She came from well back early but couldn’t reel them in over the 1000m sprint. She did run her last 600m, 7.7 lengths quicker than benchmark, second-best here behind Party For One who resumes today and has stats that don’t appeal for this contest. Tom Sherry boasts two wins from three rides on the five-year-old mare and returns here for today’s assignment. She gets the gun-run from gate one today and fitter for two runs back, looks in the mix at good odds.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 2:  No.2  BARMERA  ($10 with Ladbrokes)

Rosehill galloper BARMERA is second-up here and having his third race start, looks right in the mix at odds today. Last start, the I Am Invincible gelding was fresh off an extended time from racing when he impressed by beating all but one home, here in a 1200m Maiden. He ran the trip out, 2.6 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best last-start effort in this field. The stable have made a few adjustments today, including the fitting of a lugging bit. Ideally drawn in gate two, he maps to settle better than mid-field with cover and has Brett Prebble on board for today’s contest. Fitter for that first-up run, he looks a genuine chance here at odds.
