BEST BET 🏆
Race 6: No.8 CRYPIC VERSE
Toowoomba trainer, Josh King makes the one-hour trek south today and saddles-up CRYPIC VERSE here who is fresh off a nine-week spell and is drawn to challenge here. Last start, the Churchill mare resumed off a lengthy 20-week break when she broke through for her maiden win over 1000m at the Bell track. The lightly-raced four-year-old has plenty of upside and conditions to suit here and she gets the gun-run from gate one today and after the claim, she drops 4kgs from that last-start win. She maps to settle just off the speed (possibly box-seating) and already a winner when first-up, looks a genuine contender in this contest.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 8: No.5 JUNGLE FEVER
Tamworth visitor, JUNGLE FEVER heads north of the border today and in good touch after three starts this preparation, looks nicely placed for a forward showing in this contest. Last start, the Animal Kingdom gelding had plenty going against him when he finished just behind the placegetters in a Restricted 58 Hcp over 1350m at Ipswich. He drew gate 10 of 12 and had 60kgs to carry that day which proved a little too much in the end. Today, trainer Stephen Sutherland has booked his son Corey as the new pilot and from gate three, the five-year-old maps to settle near the speed. After the 3kg claim, the galloper carries 4kgs less than last start which will help as he steps-up to the 1500m for the first time. Fourth-up today, he should be at his peak and making his Warwick debut, looks a solid winning chance.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 7: No.14 AWESOME AUDREY
The Sunshine Coast-based AWESOME AUDREY comes in nicely at the weights here and yet to miss a podium finish in three starts this campaign, looks a serious player in this contest. Last start, the Scissor Kick mare had her second start on the synthetic track at the Gold Coast where she came off the wrong end of a three-way photo finish, taking home third prize, beaten a neck on the line in a BM62 Hcp with Michael Hellyer in the saddle. Today, she meets similar company and has Georgina Cartwright as the new pilot. She draws well in gate four and fourth-up, she should be at her peak for this. All roads lead to an each-way ticket here.
