Race 7 No. 4 BIRDIES GALORE  ($2.60) 

BIRDIES GALORE has been knocking on the door in his two runs this campaign and can get the chocolates in Race 7. After running on to fill the exacta behind Andouilette when resuming over the 1000m at Wangaratta, the Patrick Payne-trained galloper stepped up to the 1170m at that track and missed out in a photo finish behind Northernero, putting a little bit of a gap on the 3rd horse. She drops in grade for this assignment and should enjoy the favours from barrier 3.

Race 5 No. 4 PRINCESS NEFERTIFI ($3.20) 

PRINCESS NEFERTIFI should find this easier than recent runs. The Ben Brisbourne-trained mare has been racing in the city and wasn’t far away in a series of runs before rising to the 2040m at Moonee Valley and battling into 10th behind Musgrave last week. She was too keen early on and faded to land five lengths away. This is more suitable it is worth noting that her last win came at the track.

Race 8 No. 3 FREE MARKET ($4.60) 

FREE MARKET can go close at his first runs back from a spell. The five-year-old returns off a 2023 campaign that saw him finish top three in four of six runs and he was unlucky not to win at least another one of those. First up at his last preparation he was runner-up over the 1000m at Echuca before winning at that track later on over the 1100m. He will sit off them from barrier 10 and we should see a bit of temp in the race with Pretty Panda and Monday Miss to his outside. Thomas Prebble rides and claims the 2kg.
