Race 8:  No.4  O’TYCOON  

Bjorn Baker saddles-up O’TYCOON here who is second-up today and looks poised to go one better than his first-up effort. Last start, the Written Tycoon gelding was fresh off a lengthy 22-week stint in the paddock when he came off two strong trial efforts and beat all but one home in a BM64 Hcp over 1100m at Gosford. Dylan Gibbons had him settled mid-field and drove him home to finish second, beaten just a neck on the line. Fitter for that run, he draws gate five here and has Gibbons sticking with him for this contest. Placed at his only start here, a clear run to the line should see him hard to hold out today.

Race 4:  No.7  STILL ALICE

The Rosehill-based STILL ALICE has shown a lot of promise in her first two starts and looks a solid chance of back-to-back wins here today. Last start, the Epaulette filly improved further from her minor placing on debut when she easily accounted for her Maiden rivals, her over 1000m. With Jay Ford aboard, they sent her out a $2.40 hot favourite and she didn’t disappoint, leading from barrier to box, crossing the line more than a length clear of the pack. She has gate seven today and will have competition up front with plenty of early speed here, leaving Ford with options. Fitter for those two starts to date and down in weight, she looks in the mix here.

Race 7:  No.9  THIS IS THE MOMENT 

The Mitch Beer-trained THIS IS THE MOMENT has found the podium in five of his seven starts to date and lines up here looking a little over the odds today. Last start, he came off two impressive efforts at Kembla Grange when he faced city class company for the first time. The BM64 proved just a little too strong for the Toronado gelding at this stage, finishing mid-field in the 1550m event. Beer has dropped him back in distance today as he returns to a country class challenge. Robbie Downey has been aboard for the past three runs and sticks with him for this assignment. He has enough early gate speed to cross and find a sit near the pace and with the drop in class and distance today, he looks well worth an each-way ticket here.
