Race 3:  No.4  CROSS YOUR HEART

The John O’Shea-trained CROSS YOUR HEART has caught the eye of many with her first two runs and she looks the testing material here today. Last start, the well-bred Deep Field filly went one better than her debut effort when she clobbered them over 1100m, here in a Fillies & Mares Maiden Hcp. Tyler Schiller had the filly settled right behind the leader (one off the fence) and even before the turn, it looked a procession from there. Taking over on straightening, the three-year-old new-comer dashed away and eased near the line, finished 1.5 lengths ahead of them. Out of a Snitzel mare, this young lady looks a very promising type with plenty of upside about her and with Schiller as the pilot again, she will take a ton of beating here today.

Race 4:  No.1  LUAI

Hawkesbury trainer, Claire Lever saddles-up LUAI here who is firing on all cylinders lately and coming off a hat-trick, looks well placed here to add another picket to the fence line today. Last start, the Epaulette gelding came through the ranks after wins in a maiden and a Class 1 contest when he faced Class 2 company for the first time and made it three-straight in a 1400m Hcp at Bathurst. With Grant Buckley aboard for his third-straight ride, he left the outside gate (8) and with 60.5kgs on his back, still proved too strong for them in the end. Buckley sticks with him today for this assignment and drawn much better here in gate four, he looks a solid winning chance at good odds in this contest.

Race 1:  No.7  SCORPION JACK

The Gary Portelli-trained SCORPION JACK is third-up today and looks ready to win. Last start, the Impending gelding showed improvement off his first-up effort when he finished a close-up third (in a three-way photo) at Scone in a 1200m Maiden Hcp. Mikayla Weir rode him a treat that day. Parked on the leader’s heels, she eased him off the fence and he chimed in to the battle and was beaten less than half a length on the line. He will strip even fitter today with Weir remaining on board for this assignment. He looks a tad ‘overs’ here and is well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
