Race 4: No.7 HELL I AM ($2.70 with Ladbrokes)

The John O’Shea-trained HELL I AM resumes today from a 14-week break and after a successful recent trial, looks a genuine contender for this contest. The Hellbent gelding ended his last campaign with back-to-back wins at Canterbury and Randwick before hitting the paddock. His last effort saw him salute in a BM78 Hcp over 1200m on a Heavy 10 at Randwick. He ran a new personal best that day, running the trip, 10.9 lengths quicker than benchmark while posting the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the race. Two weeks ago, he won a 900m trial with James McDonald aboard, suggesting he could be ready for a first-up victory here. J.Mac has the reins and if he can overcome the outside gate here, he could take beating today.

Race 3: No.13 NULLIFY ($4.60 with Neds)

The Team Snowden-trained NULLIFY has had 16 starts now without success but third-up today, looks like a strong chance to end the run of outs here. Last start, the Epaulette mare came close (yet again) when finishing third in a 1400m Maiden at Kembla Grange. Inside the final 200m, she looked a real winning chance, but was outgunned to line, finishing just over a length away from victory that day. The stable have removed the winkers and out the blinkers back on for today’s contest. Andrew Adkins has his first ride on the mare here who maps to settle better than mid-field from barrier eight. Down in the weights, and already having two podium finishes from as many third-up appearances, she looks in the mix here today.
