BEST BET 🏆

Race 5:  No.9  MIRROR QUEEN  ($3 with Ladbrokes)

The Paul Messara-trained MIRROR QUEEN is in great touch of late and looks the goods in this contest. Last start, the Dundeel mare was shooting for the hat-trick when she finish a gallant third in a Class 3 Hwy Hcp over 1800m at Randwick. Having her first run in the city that day, she ran the trip out, 3.1 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field and a new personal best as well. She maps to settle mid-field from gate six and Josh Parr is legged aboard today for his first ride on the mare. Making her Wyong debut, she looks a real threat to this field.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 3:  No.4  SANSTOC  ($5.50 with Palmerbet)

The Mark Newnham-trained SANSTOC is second-up today and sporting blinkers for the first time looks ready to pounce. Last start, the Tavistock mare resumed off a 21-week break when clearly in need of the run, finished down the track in a BM64 Hcp over 1300m at Newcastle. She was vetted after the race but was given the all clear. Newnham fits the blinkers here for the first time as Tom Sherry returns for the ride, having already tasted success with the four-year-old. Nicely drawn in gate four here, she maps to settle just behind the speed and already a winner when second-up, looks much better placed back in the country and should give us a bold sight today.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 8:  No.4  PER IVY  ($6 with Palmerbet)

Warwick Farm galloper PER IVY is yet to miss a podium finish in five career starts and third-up today, looks a genuine winning chance in this field. Last start, the Per Incanto mare made it look easy when she took out a Class 1 contest over 900m at Newcastle. On a Heavy 8 that day, she ran her last 600m, 1.3 lengths quicker than benchmark, the third-best effort here behind (who resumes today and has no wet-track form). Regan Bayliss was aboard for that last-start win and has the job again today. Already a winner at the track and distance and fitter for two runs back, she can give this contest a real shake today.
