Race 1:  No.6  SIR GODRIC  ($1.95 with Palmerbet)

Locally-trained by Kim Waugh, SIR GODRIC has returned to the track in great shape and looks ready to record that first win today. Last start, the Dundeel gelding came off a six-month absence and beat all but one home in a 1300m Maiden at Newcastle. He ran that trip out, 8 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best last-start effort in this field. Jay Ford was aboard for that run and sticks with him here. Making his home-track debut today, he will strip fitter for that first-up effort and looks the one to beat here.

Race 4:  No.6  RAMONES  ($3.10 with TAB)

Warwick Farm trained Joe Pride makes the trip north up the F3 Freeway with RAMONES who makes his Wyong debut today and fresh off a 23-week spell, looks right in the mix here. Last start, the Zoustar gelding ended his first campaign by bringing up a hat-trick of runner-up prizes when he beat all but one home (again) in a Randwick (Kensington) Maiden over 1150m. That was back in June where he was then spelled before returning to work with two recent trials, winning the last of those at Hawkesbury. He has created a Tom Melbourne like resume with nothing but second-place finishes next to his name, however that can all change here. Tyler Schiller rode him to that last trial win and is in the saddle again today. He has drawn wide (gate 12) but has the early gate speed to cross and settle in the first half-dozen. Yet to miss a top-two finish, he should be considered a major player here.

Race 7:  No.2  DA NANG STAR  ($4.20 with Unibet)

Local galloper DA NANG STAR has run around the Wyong track four times to date and is yet to crack it for a win and will surely be out there today to make it all happen. Last start, the Medaglia D’oro gelding made the Wyong podium for the first time when he beat all but one home in a BM64 Hcp over 1600m. He ran a personal best that day, covering the mile trip, 1 length quicker than benchmark, the best in this line-up by 3 lengths. A jockey change today sees Apprentice Madeline Owen in the saddle for the first time and she brings with her a 3kg claim. The five-year-old has drawn wide but is expected to cross and be on speed where she can dominate the pace. She has a (forecast) good track today where all three of her career wins have come and with a trouble-free run here, she can give them something to chase.
