BEST BET 🏆   

Race 2 No. 10 CAPRICORN STAR- ($2.20) 

CAPRICORN STAR should find this easier than a debut effort that saw her finish 7th at Pakenham over the 1200m on February 24. The Julius Sandhu filly was heavily supported in the betting for that race but was slowly away before working up and just fading late to go down by two lengths. The daughter of Maurice will strip fitter and this is easier, while she has firmed in the early betting.

Race 4 No.1 BANGHOLME- ($3.90) 

BANGHOLME can get the job done in Race 4. The four-year-old comes into this with two runs under the belt and needed the hitout first up at Sale before heading to Pakenham and running 5th behind Marigold in a 0-64 race. He drops to BM58 for this and comes in with the best last start benchmark figures of any runner. At his last preparation, the son of Cable Bay improved more than seven lengths at this stage before winning fourth up. Logan Bates rides and claims the 3kg.

Race 6 No. 6 EUGENIUS- ($4.20) 

This looks to be a suitable assignment for EUGENIUS.The three-year-old was scratched from Thursday night Cranbourne in favour of this and has had just the one run this time in for a 4th at Pakenham. He settled handy in that race before sticking on. At his last campaign he showed some promise early on and was a 10-length improver on benchmark figures when second up, going from a runner-up performance at Flemington to a 3rd placing at Caulfield. He eventually broke his Maiden at Mornington by a big margin. The son of Magnus will strip fitter for this and gets the 3kg claim for Lauren Burke, with that pair drawing perfectly in barrier 4.
