Yarra Valley Tips 19/3/2023

MULTI ANCHOR ⚓

Race 1 No. 4  ALL SASSED UP- ($1.60)

I’m giving ALL SASSED UP another chance in Race 1. The Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr-trained galloper couldn’t quite get the job done for us when runner-up at Bendigo last time when runner-up behind Miss Subtly, who led and pinched a break. This looks slightly easier and the daughter of Shalaa has produced much better figures than her rivals in this race, placing in four of five along the way. Willing to take the short price and she provides an early multi anchor for us.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 7 No.2   PORT PHILIP – ($4.60)

The feature of the day is the Yarra Valley Cup and PORT PHILIP finds a much more suitable race after finishing last in the Blamey Stakes (1600m) at Flemington on March 4. He was never in the hunt and needed the run. Down in grade and up in distance looks a good recipe and the son of Camelot was a big improver on benchmark figures second up last time and third up when stepping up in distance. Form at the distance range is excellent and he tucks in nicely from barrier 4 with Beau Mertens to ride.

BEST VALUE 💰(EACH-WAY)

Race 8 No. 1 LEGIONNAIRE – ($6.50)

Best Value comes up in the final race of the day and LEGIONNAIRE looks well placed. The six-year-old has been racing in excellent fashion this time in, winning one and placing in two others. His most recent run came at Sandown and he settled handy before sticking on for 3rd behind Lord Paramount, going three lengths faster than standard benchmark, which is 6.4 lengths better than the next best last start figures of any runner. The John Moloney-trained galloper should be suited at this circuit and will take a bit of running down.
