BEST BET 🏆

Race 5 No. 3 FLEURIEU FLIPPER – ($4)

Tough act to follow FLEURIEU FLIPPER can bounce back to winning form here at Gifford Hill. He does mix his form occasionally; however, is one from one over the track and trip while coming out of a strong form race. Ellis Wong had him camped behind the speed before moving up into the straight to put paid to Versetto. These two gapped the others which led us to backing Versetto at his next start, only to see him go down narrowly in a strong race. We also black booked Lacrima out of the race behind Fleurieu Flipper here, with that mare since going on to record two straight wins in town.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 7 No. 11 DASH IT – ($5.50)

The fast pace up front allowed the Chris Bieg trained DASH IT to produce her best when resuming at Morphettville. Dom Tourneur allowed Dash It to find her feet early while getting a long way off them before letting rip as the widest runner. She did produce some of the best late sectionals of the day as Tourneur had wound her up from the 600m. This was enough for us to place Dash It into the #SABlackbookers file and wait for a suitable race. We chose to sit it out last start with Dash It staying to trip at Strathalbyn in a tricky race. She ran home stylishly out wide again, and the big expanses here at Gifford Hill are seemingly suited to her style.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 4 No. 11 KATE’S REBEL – ($9.50)

Local trainer Stuart Padman has improving stayer KATE’S REBEL searching for a win over a trip at home. Kate’s Rebel nearly caused an upset as Justin Potter stalked the speed with her at Oakbank three starts ago. The pair ranged up to hit the front into the straight only to be overhauled in the shadows by Swankytoff. She now meets that galloper half a kilo worse off while appearing to have some upside. She was subsequently beaten a long way when well-supported at her next start before bouncing back to form with her latest. Kate’s Rebel settled more forward in the run to come away and battle it out with the winner in Gmork. Not taking the Gmork formline behind Batting Above on face value, and we’re confident Kate’s Rebel will run the 2500m.
