Nowra Racing Tips 15 June 2026 — can Maher roll them early?
One stable makes this Nowra card feel less like five separate races and more like one long problem to solve. Ciaron Maher has three key runners across the opener, and the map says he can control how the meeting starts, especially over the sharp 1200m where barriers matter and momentum counts.
That doesn’t mean we just blindly follow the stable colours. Nowra can punish horses that want the “perfect run” but don’t have the acceleration to hold a spot, and a couple of these races look like they’ll be decided by who lands in the first four without burning petrol. Below are my Nowra racing tips for Monday, with a clean opinion in every race, plus the one I’d actually build around if you’re playing the whole meeting.
Five races, turf, and plenty of lightly raced types. If you’re short on time, go straight to Race 3 as the best betting heat and work back from there.
Nowra — the setup
Limited course form across today’s fields. Most runners have only one or two starts here, so I’m leaning harder on barrier, race shape, and what the jockey bookings say about intent.
Where I will use the track history: the riders. A couple of them consistently put horses in the right spot at Nowra, and that matters on a day where we’re guessing improvement curves.

| Jockey | Runs | Wins | Places | Win% | Place% |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| A B Collett | 16 | 2 | 13 | 12.5 | 81.25 |
| K S Latham | 16 | 4 | 11 | 25 | 68.75 |
| Pierre Boudvillain | 14 | 2 | 8 | 14.29 | 57.14 |
| Brock Ryan | 10 | 2 | 5 | 20 | 50 |
| J Penza | 11 | 2 | 5 | 18.18 | 45.45 |
Trainer-wise, the one number that’s actually worth respecting: Maher has placed all eight runners he’s brought to Nowra across the dataset we’ve got, with one winner among them. Eight is enough to take seriously. It’s also enough to say he targets this track with the right horses, not just whatever needs a run.
Race-by-race
Race 1: South Coast Retreat Hcp (C3) — 12:35, 1203m
The contender is Voltage Lass because the setup screams “use the gate and don’t get involved in nonsense”. She’s drawn barrier 1, carries 124.5, and gets Pierre Boudvillain, who rides Nowra like someone who knows where the turns come at you. If she holds a spot and makes the field chase from the bend, plenty of these will be under pressure before they can even balance up.
There’s also a simple logic play here: the Maher trio will attract attention, but they’re spread across different profiles and weights. Margin Call is the class on paper (top weight 134.4, barrier 3, Farragher), but his recent form line ends with a 9 and his last 90-day sample we can see is one run for a ninth. That doesn’t kill him, but it tells you he’s not flying.
The main danger is Overtook from barrier 2. Louise Day’s Nowra record is solid over volume, and she’s the rider you want when you need the horse to travel and present at the right time. If the speed is stronger than it looks and they’re coming off the fence late, she’s the one who can pinch it.
Staking: Win bet Voltage Lass. Small saver quinella with Overtook if you want cover against the Day ride.
Race 2: Kel Campbell Fuel Haulage Country Boosted Mdn Plate — 13:10, 1203m
Here’s the question: do you back the lightly raced filly with upside, or the older battlers who keep turning up and finding new ways to get beaten? I’m taking upside and I’m starting with the map.
Roselily is the one I want. Barrier 2 over 1200m at Nowra is a genuine edge, and Louise Day is a deliberate booking for a Scott Collings runner. The form line is thin (just the one run on the page), but in this sort of maiden, the horse that can land 1-1 or box-seat without spending usually gets first crack.
Kathleen’s Prayer is the danger on debut. Gardner’s had three runners at Nowra in the data we’re working with for a win and three placings, which tells you he places them well here, and the filly gets a soft weight (121.2). If she shows any early tactical speed, she’s live.
I’m happy to risk the older horses like Loujen Francaise (barrier 1) despite the draw, because the recent story is flat and the ceiling looks exposed. She’s had two goes at Nowra without placing and that’s not a profile I want to trust when there are unknowns in the field.
Staking: Win bet Roselily. If you’re playing safer, Roselily to place and a small saver on Kathleen’s Prayer to win.
Race 3: Carpet Court Mdn Plate — 13:50, 1312m
The market problem is usually this: punters overreact to the “next start, it wins” type and ignore the horse that’s been doing enough right, often from awkward gates, and keeps landing in the money. That’s how I’m treating Felis Chaus later, but in this maiden it’s even cleaner.
Rockthevelio gets the right conditions to break through. Barrier 1, 125.6, and A B Collett. At Nowra, Collett hits the frame more than four out of five rides from a meaningful sample, and that’s not luck. This horse has shown enough (form “23”) to suggest he can take a position, then sprint when Collett asks.
The danger is Gold Earth. He ran second on his only Nowra start, and T Wong’s team has placed all three of their Nowra runners in the course stats we’ve got, so they clearly don’t bring them here to sightsee. The issue is barrier 9 over this trip. If he’s caught three deep early, he’ll need to be properly better than them.
Zougotme is the other one I’d keep safe. He’s been around the mark for a while and this trip looks fine, but he does keep finding one or two better. If you’re building exotics, he’s the “keep me out of trouble” horse.
Staking: Win bet Rockthevelio. Exacta saver Rockthevelio with Gold Earth.

Race 4: Tige’s Tiles Mdn Hcp — 14:25, 1531m
The shape looks messy early, and that’s why I’m siding with the runner who can absorb a slightly awkward run and still finish. Medieval Mayhem from barrier 1 is the obvious map horse and it might look ugly on paper (form ends “88”), but gate 1 over a mile around Nowra can turn “plodder” into “hard to pass” if the race becomes stop start.
Feazabeel is the pick though, even from barrier 7. He’s had enough racing to know his job, he carries 130, and he comes from the Neasham and Archibald yard. Over the last 90 days in the limited sample we pulled, he’s had one run and finished fifth, which is not a booming push, but it does tell you he’s been active and not spelled into this. If Mollie Fitzgerald can land midfield with cover, he’s the one I want hitting the line when others start feeling the trip.
The danger is Michonne’s Katana with J Ford. Ford’s record at Nowra in the data isn’t strong, but he’s the jockey you want when a race needs timing, and this one does. From barrier 11 she’ll need luck, but if they overdo it early she’s the right type to be running on.
Staking: Each-way Feazabeel. If you hate the gate, go smaller and save on Medieval Mayhem to place.
Race 5: Shire Law (Bm58) — 15:05, 1531m
The contrast here is between the horse that keeps knocking and the horse that might be better than a BM58 if he’s come back the right way. I’m leaning to the fresh upside.
Reckless Behaviour is my best bet on the card. He resumes (form “713-”), carries 132.2, and gets Brodie Loy, who has only had two Nowra rides in our course sample but has placed on both. Small sample, so I won’t dress it up as a trend, but it does say he’s handled the track and judged it well. The bigger point is stable intent: Matthew Dale doesn’t waste bullets here. From four Nowra runners in the course stats, he’s won once and placed three times. That’s a stable that lands on the right races.
The danger is Felis Chaus from barrier 1 with Collett. He’s the “always there” type (form “5-6263”), and over the last 90 days he’s placed in half his runs. Gate 1 plus a rider who hits the frame constantly at Nowra makes him the clear threat if Reckless Behaviour needs the run.
A Book Of Days has placed on his only Nowra start and comes in off three straight thirds in the form line. He’ll give you a sight, but I’m not convinced he has the kick to put these away if they sit on him.
Staking: Win bet Reckless Behaviour. Saver quinella with Felis Chaus.
The plays
NAP: Reckless Behaviour (Race 5, 15:05). The Dale placement at Nowra is strong over a decent sample and this horse profiles as the one with improvement in hand rather than exposed limits.
Value: Feazabeel (Race 4, 14:25) each-way. The mile suits the horse who can keep building, and this race has enough unknowns that a solid grinder can get paid if the leaders overcook it.
Banker for multis: Rockthevelio (Race 3, 13:50). Barrier 1 and Collett is a simple, repeatable recipe at this track, and the form says he’s ready to win a maiden.
Each-way: Voltage Lass (Race 1, 12:35). Drawn to run the race her way and gets a rider who consistently puts horses in the first half at Nowra.
Course angle to remember: If you’re betting Nowra regularly, keep an eye on riders who land in the frame here over volume, especially Collett and Latham. They don’t just ride winners, they keep you alive in the placing markets. Next meeting, I want to see what Collett does again from a low gate in the sprints.

Nowra kicks off at 12:35 with the South Coast Retreat Hcp (C3) over 1203m.
Who are the top jockeys at Nowra on today’s numbers?
A B Collett is the standout for consistency at Nowra in the available sample, placing 13 times from 16 rides. K S Latham also rides Nowra well, with 11 placings from 16. Louise Day has 7 rides for 2 wins and 3 placings, which is a solid return over a decent enough base.
Who are the trainers to follow at Nowra in this meeting?
Ciaron Maher is the stable I respect most on this card: eight Nowra runners in the dataset and he’s placed them all, with one winner. Matthew Dale also targets the track well, with a win and three placings from four runners.
What are the best bets at Nowra today?
My best is Reckless Behaviour in Race 5 (15:05). The best “safe multi” leg is Rockthevelio in Race 3 (13:50) from barrier 1 with Collett. If you want a price play, Feazabeel each-way in Race 4 (14:25) makes sense given the race shape.
Where can I find the best odds for Nowra races?
Prices can move quickly on a five-race country program. I couldn’t retrieve live odds for this meeting via the current odds feed, so I’d shop around directly with your preferred bookmakers and compare close to jump time for each race.
