Rockhampton Racing Tips 21 May 2026 — can Tierney own the card?
Rockhampton, I keep coming back to one angle
There are days where you can squint at six races and convince yourself they are all “competitive”. This Rockhampton meeting isn’t that. The story is the riders and the placements, and one name keeps popping up with the sort of track record you can actually lean on.
MS S Tierney rides this joint like it owes her money. She wins more than a third of her Rockhampton rides and lands in the placings about two-thirds of the time from a proper sample of 28. When she turns up on a few live hopes on a small card, you don’t outthink it, you work with it.
You’ll get straight Rockhampton racing tips below race by race, with the betting approach kept simple: one strong win bet where the profile screams “today”, a couple of safer place angles, and one race I’m happy to watch rather than force.
Four races, turf, and the bulk of the card sits in the maiden to BM65 zone where barrier and intent matter as much as raw ability.
Rockhampton, the setup
Limited course form across today’s fields. Most of these are one or two Rockhampton runs at most, so I’m not pretending we’ve got a stack of true track specialists in the horse list. Where the track data does bite is with the jockeys and the trainers who rack up enough volume here for it to mean something.
Jockey pattern worth acting on: Tierney’s Rockhampton strike is the standout, and Kendrick’s runners keep landing on the sharp end when they place them here.

Race-by-race: Rockhampton predictions
Race 1: Great Northern Mdn Hcp — 12:08, 1148m
The question in the opener is simple: Shemakesmenervous (gate 2) keeps knocking, so do we trust the profile or hunt for something with upside?
I’m sticking with Shemakesmenervous. That form string reads like a horse who has found its level and is ready to be rewarded: 233-33 tells you it holds a spot and keeps finishing off. The inside draw lets Raul Silvera Olivera park right behind the speed and make this a 300m race, which is what you want in a maiden with a few unknown quantities.
At the track it has placed on its only Rockhampton run too, which isn’t a trend, but it’s at least proof it handles the place.
The danger is Monsieur Amour (gate 4) purely off the fresh profile. You don’t give away too much respect to a horse with no exposed form, but J T Wigginton doesn’t need much encouragement to land one in the money here, and a forward run from a handy gate makes it the one that can make the favourite work.
Staking: Win bet Shemakesmenervous. If you want insurance, saver quinella with Monsieur Amour rather than spreading wider.
Race 2: Tab Mdn Hcp — 12:43, 1531m
This is the race shape I want to bet into. The 1531m brings stamina into play, and it usually rewards the horse that can hold a position and keep rolling when others hit the wall.
Turbo Torque (gate 3) looks the right anchor. The form line 4-34324 screams “thereabouts”, and the draw gives MS S Tierney every chance to control where it lands. I don’t need this horse to be a star, I just need it to be the one that keeps its spot and doesn’t over-race.
The Rockhampton piece is solid without getting silly: it has placed in both course runs. Again, emerging pattern at best, but it matters in a maiden at this track.
The danger is Belvedere Miss (gate 1). Courtney Bellamy hasn’t had many Rockhampton rides, but from the inside alley this runner can either box-seat or lead. It has three runs here for a single placing, which is fine, and the race sets up for something drawn to save every inch.
Staking: Win bet Turbo Torque. If the tote’s skinny, go win and place rather than trying to get clever with exotics.
Race 3: The Agency Hcp (C1) — 13:18, 1312m
The market problem here is that plenty of these are “in form” on paper, but only one comes with the combination I trust at Rockhampton: Blitzwater with Kendrick and Tierney.
Blitzwater (gate 3) has the right kind of consistency for a Class 1: 320-33 says it travels, it competes, and it keeps turning up in the finish. Over the last 90 days it has gone two from two for placings, so the stable clearly has it placed to win, not to make up numbers. From the draw Tierney can either hold the front third or take the trail if something insists on leading, and that flexibility matters around here.
The main danger is Humble Hero (gate 6). It’s also two from two in the placings in the last 90 days and it maps to get a soft enough run if the speed isn’t brutal. If the leaders get their way and it becomes a sprint from the 400m, Humble Hero is the one most likely to pick up and pinch it late.

Staking: This is the best betting race on the card. Win bet Blitzwater. Save on Humble Hero only if you think the pace collapses into a sit and sprint.
Race 4: Tab Rockhampton Cup On Sale (Bm65) — 13:53, 1750m
Two horses, different profiles, both live. Jetpack Verdi brings the recent winning confidence, while Kayleen’s Profit brings the “always around the money” vibe at this track.
I’m with Jetpack Verdi (gate 4). The form 694121 is the key: it’s not just one spike, it’s a horse building into something and now arriving off a win. Over the last 90 days it has had six runs for two wins and three placings, so it’s holding its form and getting paid for it. Tahlia Fenlon doesn’t win as often here as Tierney, but she hits the frame frequently enough at Rockhampton to trust her in a BM65 if the horse is going well.
The danger is Kayleen’s Profit (gate 2). It has four Rockhampton runs for three placings, and that’s the sort of record that keeps you honest in a midweek handicap. If Jetpack Verdi gets cluttered up at the wrong time, Kayleen’s Profit is drawn to get first crack.
Staking: Win bet Jetpack Verdi. If you’re playing it safer, Jetpack Verdi win with Kayleen’s Profit as the saver in a small exacta.
The plays
NAP: Blitzwater (Race 3, 13:18). Kendrick trains them to win here and Tierney rides Rockhampton like it’s her home track. The horse itself keeps landing in the finish and hasn’t missed the placings in its last two runs in the 90-day window.
Value: Turbo Torque (Race 2, 12:43). A maiden with a horse that’s already proven it can handle Rockhampton with two placings from two starts here. You’re buying reliability and a top local rider.
Banker for multis: Jetpack Verdi (Race 4, 13:53) to run top three. Two wins and three placings from six runs in the last 90 days is the kind of profile that doesn’t often miss the money in this grade.
Each-way angle: Kayleen’s Profit (Race 4) if the price drifts. Four course runs for three placings keeps it in the conversation.
Course angle to keep: when Tierney lands on a Kendrick runner at Rockhampton, you don’t need a perfect race, you just need a fair one. Keep watching that combo here through winter, because the strike stays high when the placements are right.
