Sale Racing Tips 25 Oct 2026: Can Ten Commandments Win?

Overview

Ten Commandments has banked more prize money in the last 90 days than any other runner on this Sale card, and gets into the Sale Cup with just 55.5kg. That is the angle that shapes the whole afternoon. Ciaron Maher’s runner has two wins from five recent starts and a third placing on top, and Thomas Stockdale, who has won on two of five rides for the stable at this track, is in the saddle.

Zoom out and there are nine races on the turf, rated Good, starting at 1:05PM with three maidens before the benchmark races take over. These Sale racing tips go race by race, with a firm view in each, a danger, and a staking line. Live prices were only up for the first three races at the time of writing, so the later races are judged on form, weights and connections rather than the market. Ben Allen is the jockey to follow on the numbers, and the Waller and Maher stables both bring small, targeted teams.

Reading the Sale card

The track is rated Good and the distances run from 1094m to 2406m, so there is something for sprinters, milers and stayers. Plenty of today’s runners have never been here, but a handful have enough course starts to count.

Horse Runs Wins Places Win% Place%
Korobeiniki 7 1 3 14% 43%
Grand Sage 7 1 3 14% 43%
Always Shining 4 0 1 0% 25%
Motherduck 3 0 1 0% 33%

None of those four reads as a track specialist, which tells you how open this card is. The jockey and trainer numbers are more useful.

Jockey Runs Wins Places Win% Place%
L Currie 14 2 10 14% 71%
Jabez Johnstone 5 0 3 0% 60%
Ben Allen 29 9 15 31% 52%
Lachlan Neindorf 54 8 27 15% 50%
Jye Mcneil 46 8 23 17% 50%
Jordan Childs 8 2 4 25% 50%
Thomas Stockdale 42 8 20 19% 48%
J Noonan 49 7 21 14% 43%
Trainer Runs Wins Places Win% Place%
MS C Alderson 5 1 5 20% 100%
C J Waller 10 4 8 40% 80%
A & S Freedman 19 7 14 37% 74%
Charlotte Littlefield 10 5 7 50% 70%
C Maher 18 5 12 28% 67%
P G Moody & Katherine Coleman 29 3 18 10% 62%
D T O’Brien 27 7 15 26% 56%
Peter Gelagotis 16 5 8 31% 50%

Two things stand out. Ben Allen wins nearly a third of his rides here, well clear of the other regular riders on strike rate. And the visiting stables travel well: Littlefield has won with half of ten Sale runners and Waller with four of ten.

Sale predictions, race by race

Race 1: Ladbrokes Switch Mdn Plate, 1:05PM, 1312m

Loaded ran second on debut and the market has decided that is enough: $1.95 with Bet Right. It is a fair call. The Price and Kent Jnr stable places with more than half its runners from 32 Sale starts, and Lachlan Neindorf, the busiest rider at the track, has hit the frame on half of 54 rides here. Barrier 13 is the catch, because Loaded will need to find cover early or sit wide.

Armorware is the danger. Two runs this campaign have produced a second and a third, and barrier 2 for the M M Laurie stable means a soft run on the fence. At $8.50 with Unibet, Armorware is the logical one to beat the favourite if Loaded gets caught three wide.

Win bet on Loaded. Small saver on Armorware.

Race 2: Grassdale Estate Mdn Plate, 1:35PM, 1531m

Does the stable with the perfect Sale placing record have the answer? MS C Alderson has sent five runners here and all five finished in the first three. Rough Enuff carries that into a maiden over 1531m after running second last start, and J Mott rides from barrier 3. The market has Rough Enuff a $3.40 favourite with Unibet, which is about right for a maiden coming off a second.

The one I want at a price is Silky Seth. Two placings from three runs this preparation, a top-three finish on the only visit to Sale, and Jordan Childs, who has won on two of eight rides here, takes the mount. At $12 with Unibet that is the each-way play of the race.

Castelli In Aria ran second last start and looms as the main danger at $6.50.

Win bet on Rough Enuff, each-way on Silky Seth.

Race 3: Kustom Steel Fabrication Mdn Plate, 2:10PM, 1531m

Two debut runners, two different stories. Julius Maximus ran third first up for Ciaron Maher and is $1.75 with Bet Right. Majestic Flyer went one better, running second on debut, and is $4.20. Same weight today, and the one with the better debut result is more than double the price.

That gap looks wrong. Majestic Flyer is trained by Charlotte Littlefield, whose Sale runners win half the time from ten starts, and Jett Stanley draws barrier 7, a much kinder gate than barrier 14 for the favourite. Julius Maximus has strong backing in the Maher and Stockdale combination, two wins from five rides together here, so this is no easy beat, but at those odds the value sits with the runner-up form.

Sisterly is the outsider worth a look at $9.50 with Unibet after two runs that should have the edge taken off.

Win bet on Majestic Flyer.

Race 4: Ladbrokes Mega Multi (Bm66), 2:45PM, 1750m

Wounder grinds; Tanabata is on the way up. Wounder has five runs in the last 90 days and finished in the first three every time, winning once, and draws the rail. That is an each-way horse in a race like this. The question is whether there is a winning finish in there.

Tanabata answers that better. A last-start winner, carrying just 54kg from barrier 2, from the Waller stable with Jye Mcneil aboard. That pair have won two of their five rides together at Sale and placed in three. With a light weight, an inside draw and a stable that brings only a handful of runners to this track, Tanabata fits the race.

Overpriced, another last-start winner, is the danger, but 59.5kg is a big ask against those light weights.

Win bet on Tanabata. Wounder each-way for the cautious.

Race 5: Fantasy Cocktails (Bm66), 3:20PM, 2406m

Saxon Blood has been the model of consistency this preparation, finishing in the first three in five of six starts and winning two of them, and won on the only previous visit to Sale. Trainer Nathan Mcpherson has had three runners here for two wins. W Egan rides from barrier 5 at 58kg.

The trip of 2406m will find out a few, and the light weights are the danger. Ninyo has won two of the last five and gets in with 54kg. Korobeiniki is the only runner in the field with real course volume, seven starts for a win and two other placings, but finished ninth last start.

Win bet on Saxon Blood.

Race 6: Irwin Stockfeeds (Bm66), 4:00PM, 1094m

The quaddie opens with a sprint, and Fehmarn is the one to build it around. Two wins from three starts this preparation, including last time out, and barrier 5 to work from. Trainer R Waymouth has nothing else on the card, so Fehmarn has the stable’s full attention.

Nordic Strike is the runner who never goes away: placed in all four runs in the last 90 days and in both Sale starts without winning any of them. Jabez Johnstone rides for Maher. If Fehmarn gets trapped wide, Nordic Strike will be the one running on.

Win bet on Fehmarn, with Nordic Strike in the exacta.

Race 7: Ladbrokes Sale Cup, 4:30PM, 1750m

This is the race of the day and it should go to the class runner. Ten Commandments has collected more than $165,000 in prize money from five starts in the last 90 days, winning two of them. Nothing else in this field comes close on that measure, and 55.5kg is a light weight for a horse with that sort of earning power.

The Maher stable is the one to fear at Sale. It places with two thirds of its runners from 18 starts here and has won five, and Thomas Stockdale has been aboard for two of those wins from five rides. Barrier 7 gives Stockdale options: take a sit behind the speed and let the weight advantage tell in the straight.

Freedom Rally is the main danger. One win from two runs this campaign, and those two runs earned $86,500, so the ability is proven. But 57.5kg and barrier 9 make it harder, and the longer form string goes up and down. Pinstriped, the topweight with 60kg, has placed only once in four recent starts and looks to be carrying too much.

All Business is the wildcard. Seven starts this preparation for a win and three other placings, and on the minimum 54kg this one will be running on late. It fits as the each-way outsider, and if the pace collapses it could even win.

The prices were not up at the time of writing, so watch the market. Ten Commandments should start favourite, and deserves to. Win bet, with All Business as the saver place bet.

Race 8: Turnbull Toyota (Bm70), 5:05PM, 1531m

Wetumpka has been to Sale twice and won both times. That is only two runs, so call it a data point rather than a trend, but it pairs nicely with the rest of the setup. Peter Gelagotis has won with five of 16 runners here, and Ben Allen, the leading rider at the track on strike rate, gets the ride. Wetumpka has also won one and placed in the other of two runs this preparation.

Diamond Eye is the danger: two wins from two starts in the last 90 days, and placed in both Sale runs. Barrier 14 and Reece Goodwin’s moderate record here, one win from 25 runners, are the knocks. Chicago Blues has two wins this preparation and is the each-way outsider.

Win bet on Wetumpka.

Race 9: Ladbrokes Place Extra (Bm70), 5:35PM, 1312m

The market problem in the last will be Electric Elvis, who has placed in all four starts this preparation and will be well backed. Consistent, yes, but one win from those four suggests something finds a way past more often than not, and 59.5kg from barrier 10 is a load.

Let It Beel is the better bet: in the first three in all three runs this preparation with a win among them, and two trips to Sale for a win and a placing. The Moody and Coleman stable is a placing machine here, with 18 placings from 29 runners. L Nolen rides from barrier 6.

Balance, a winner in one of two runs this preparation with 54.5kg, is the light-weight threat.

Win bet on Let It Beel, saver on Electric Elvis.

Where the money goes

NAP: Ten Commandments (Race 7, 4:30PM). The richest recent form on the card, a light weight, and a stable that wins at Sale. Hard to see what beats this one.

Value: Majestic Flyer (Race 3, 2:10PM). Ran second on debut and is $4.20 with Bet Right while a debut third is $1.75. That price makes little sense on the form.

Banker: Loaded (Race 1, 1:05PM). $1.95 with Bet Right after a debut second, and Neindorf has made the frame on half his rides here. The wide gate is the only worry.

Each-way: Silky Seth (Race 2, 1:35PM). Placed in two of three this preparation and on the only trip to Sale. $12 with Unibet pays well for a place.

Course angle: Ben Allen. Nine winners from 29 rides at Sale is a strike rate nobody else here matches, and the bookings today are Wetumpka in Race 8 and Electric Elvis in the last.

If Littlefield keeps sending runners to Sale at this strike rate, the stable will be the first name punters check at the next meeting here.
