BEST BET 🏆   

Race 8 No. 1 MR BRIGHTSIDE- ($1.80) 

This does look to be a bit of a match-race between MR BRIGHTSIDE and Pride Of Jenni and we are settling on the former in the $4 million affair. The ledger is square at one win apiece when the two have raced against one another. Mr Brightside has the superior overall record and has won when third up at his past two preparations. Barrier 11 isn’t a huge concern and I expect Craig Williams will be able to find some cover in the early stages with the field to string out. He can round them up in the straight.

Race 1 No.3 MURAMASA- ($4.60) 

MURAMASA can be an improver when he steps out in the opener at Caulfield. The four-year-old resumed in he Blamey Stakes (1600m) at Flemington on March 2 and settled at the tail in the field of 14. He was keen in the middle stages and was working into it before being steadied at the 600m. He stuck on for 8th, been four lengths by Atishu. The 2000m suits much better and at the same time of his last campaign he was a nine length improver on benchmark figures when claiming the Coongy Cup (2000m) at the track and trip. He draws barrier 3 for this and should be hard to beat.

Race 2 No. 1 FISTOFFURY- ($2.80) 

Keen on FISTOFFURY in Race 2. The Team Hawkes-trained galloper was well beaten last time by the budding star, Another Wil, but did have a bit on the rest of them. He went 6.6 lengths faster than standard benchmark, which is the best last start figure of any runner. Third up last time, the son of Dundeel produced a peak when improving five lengths to score at Moonee Valley ahead of some top liners in Apulia and Autumn Angel. Jye McNeil rides and can box seat from barrier 1.
