Flemington Tips 18/05/2024

BEST BET 🏆

Race 10 No. 1 SHESALLSHENANIGANS- ($5.10)

SHESALLSHENANIGANS can end the day a winner. The Simon Zahra-trained galloper was solid when resuming at the track and trip behind Estriella before running 4th at Bendigo. At her most recent start, the three-year-old was posted wide without cover throughout at Caulfield on April 4 before sticking on for a brave runner-up behind Title Fighter. She went 10.3 lengths faster than standard benchmark figures last time and 8.3 lengths faster at Flemington three starts ago. No horse in this race has produced anything better. The daughter of Toronado draws the grandstand side and the 3kg claim for Ryan Houston gets her down to a winnable weight.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 1 No. 10 SNEAKY SUNRISE- ($4.05)

Willing to have something on SNEAKY SUNRISE in the opener at Flemington. The filly from the Team Hayes camp has had just the two career starts and was runner-up on debut behind Snack Bar at Ballarat over the 1200m before heading to Flemington and placing 7th in the ANZAC Day Stakes (1400m). She was held up from the 500m to the 200m before producing the fastest last 200m. The daughter of The Autumn Sun needs to make up a couple of lengths on the likes of Narbold but shows promise and has attracted plenty of support in the betting.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 5 No.13 WHITE BEAR – ($5.50)

Been a few close calls for WHITE BEAR in recent times with the Mike Moroney-trained galloper finishing within a length off the winner in three straight runs since his five-length romp at Benalla to start his campaign. He led at Caulfield over the 1200m on April 27 and was run down late by Awapani Princess, going 5.6 lengths faster than standard benchmark, which is nearly four lengths better than the next best last start figures of any runner. The son of Shamexpress had excuses at his run prior to that. The four-year-old is yet to have a run at Flemington but draws the grandstand side and has attracted support in the betting.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 4 No. 8 FLYING FIZZ- ($7.50)

FLYING FIZZ can be an improver in Race 4. The Warrnambool based galloper resumed at his home track during the local carnival and settled back from the wide barrier and his cause wasn’t helped early on with the field going very slow on a track that favoured the leaders. He worked home well over the last 200m to finish 6th behind Prince Sonic. Second up at his last preparation, the Matthew Williams-trained galloper improved more than 10 lengths open benchmark figures when going from a Maiden win at the ‘Bool to a win at Sandown. She then placed at Listed level. The daughter of Street Boss draws much better at her second run and can get the job done.
