BEST BET 🏆

Race 4 :  No. 2  CASIRINA  ($2.35 with Unibet)

Taree galloper CASIRINA is in great touch this time in and ticks enough boxes here to be labelled the best of the day. Last start, the Casino Prince gelding made it four-straight podium finishes when he beat all but to the line in a BM66 Hcp over 2100m at Tamworth. Kody Nestor had his fourth ride on the galloper that day and now boasts two wins and two minor placings with the five-year-old. He meets similar company here today and with a trouble-free run, he should prove hard to hold out in the run home.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 5 :  No. 6  BRIEFLY  ($4 with bet365)

Already a two-time winner this preparation, Tamworth galloper BRIEFLY makes her track debut today but is bringing good form with her. Last start, the Testa Rossa mare comfortably won a Class 1 Hcp over 1000m on her home track. She ran it out, 3.8 slower than benchmark, the best effort here by more than 2 lengths. She also recorded the fastest final 800m, 600m and 200m sectionals for the race. She is up in grade today but drops in weight and is ideally drawn in gate where she maps to settle just behind the speed. Grant Buckley steered her to both career wins to date and sticks with her for this contest. Although she sees the track for the first time today, she ticks enough boxes here to see her a worthy contender for the major prize.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 7 :  No.10  MOETTA  ($5.50 with Neds)

In career-best form of late, MOETTA has enough going for her here to suggest she can give this a real shake today. Last start, the Uncle Mo mare made it five-straight podium finishes when she crossed the line in third place in the Dubbo Cup Sprint Prelude over 1120m. With Jake Barrett aboard, she led and stuck to the fence in the run home where the going wasn’t the best that day on a Soft 7 track. She is still a two-time winner in that going and has a victory here as well. This is her first look at 1300m today but she is in such good form, Barrett sticks with her here and after his claim, the mare carries 3kgs under the limit with just 53kgs on her back. Good early gate speed should see her settle better than mid-field and from there, she will prove hard to hold out in this contest.
