Flemington Tips 5/11/2022
BEST BET 🏆
Race 8 No. 7 ANAMOE- ($2.15)
Have to go with ANAMOE in the Champions Stakes. The Cox Plate (2040m) winner has done the job for us every time he has stepped out this preparation with four wins from as many starts at Group 1 level and we are not jumping off now. You could make a case for I’m Thunderstruck but Anamoe has found a way every time and I am not sure it will be third time lucky for his rival. The Champions Stakes is unlikely to be run at breakneck speed and that will suit the Godolphin galloper, who should again get the perfect run from barrier 4.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 7 No. 4 ALLIGATOR BLOOD- ($6.50)
The Champions Mile shapes as a beauty and ALLIGATOR BLOOD can bite back over the 1600m at Flemington. The Gai Waterhouse-trained galloper tends to save his best for the track and trip and was an Australian Guineas winner here as a three-year-old before producing a big effort to nearly knock over I’m Thunderstruck in the Maybe Diva Stakes earlier this spring, running good time in the process. Pace doesn’t look too taxing in this ace and he can give a great sight.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 5 No. 7 FOXY FRIDA- ($8)
The mares line up in the Matriarch Stakes and FOXY FRIDA can go close in the Group 2 affair. The Andrew Noblet-trained galloper has had three runs this preparation, finishing 4th on each occasion. She last stepped out on a Heavy track at Caulfield in the Ladies Day Vase, closing off well to finish just over a length behind Sirileo Miss. She gets out to the 2000m and was a strong winner when fourth up in the autumn when getting out to the trip in the Centaurea Stakes (2000m) in Adelaide by more than two lengths from La Dragontea, while there was a huge gap back to 3rd. Form at Flemington is excellent with three wins from five attempts and she should be strong late in the piece with Damien Oliver to ride.
Best Value 💰(EACH-WAY)
Race 9 No. 20 TREPORTI- ($9.50)
Hoping the fourth emergency, TREPORTI, gains a start in the final race of the Flemington carnival. The Danny O’Brien-trained galloper resumes from a spell and was excellent first up at his last preparation when runner-up behind Star Patrol at the track and trip. The four-year-old went 10.3 lengths faster than standard that day, which are the second best figures that any horse in this race has produced. He was then fair behind Passive Aggressive. A drying track shapes as a bonus, while he gets the tick of approval from James McDonald.
