BEST BET 🏆

Race 1:  No.3  BRAVEZEL

The Matt Dunn-trained BRAVEZEL has returned in top-shelf form and looks well placed here for back-to-back victories today. Last start, the Brave Smash gelding went one better than his first-up second at Lismore when he broke through for his Maiden win over 1300m at Ballina. That was his second start for the Dunn stable after transferring from the Annabel Neasham camp. Brodie Loy has been aboard since he arrived and has the reins again in the contest. In top form, he looks the testing material here.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 4:  No.2  MOFEED

Stephen Lee saddles-up MOFEED here who is third-up today and after back-to-back minor placings should be ready to break through in this contest. Last start, the Akeed Mofeed gelding found one better on the day but still headed the rest of them when finishing second in a 1000m Maiden at Ballina. He sees the Murwillumbah track for the first time today and has a new rider with 3kg claiming apprentice, Rob Thorburn in the saddle for this assignment. Nicely drawn in gate four, he maps to be near the speed on settling and fitter for two runs back, he should be there at the finish again.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 7:  No.8  SERENADE THE CAT

Another from the Stephen Lee camp is SERENADE THE CAT who has been in great touch this time in and returning to the country scene today, looks in the mix again. Last start, the Poet’s Voice mare tried her luck against city class gallopers but things didn’t turn out as the connections may have hoped as she finished unplaced in the BM62 Hcp over the mile at Doomben. Prior to that run, she completed a hat-trick of podium finishes around the country tracks, including a win, here two starts back in a BM58 over 1550m. Both career wins have come on rain affected tracks so conditions today (with a Soft 6 forecast) look ideal for her and rider Elione Chaves (who has been aboard for the mare’s past three races. From gate five, she maps to settle in the first half-dozen and down in grade today, she looks good value in this event.
