I always look for the runner that turns a country meeting into something you can bet with conviction. At Moe today, that horse is Infinite Jest. Two goes at the track for a win and a second is a clean little piece of evidence in a sport that usually drowns you in noise, and it lands in the one race on the card where the form looks reliable enough to lean on.
We’ve got six races on turf, starting at 1:00pm, with a stack of maidens early and the better betting arriving late with the 1780m BM66 and the 2676m BM62. Race-by-race Moe predictions
Race 1: The Makeup Hub Mdn Plate — 13:00, 1331m
The market won’t help much in these early Moe maidens, so I’m starting with the rider booking and the draw. Lady Lopez maps to get every chance from barrier 1 with Teodore Nugent, and in a 1331m maiden that matters. She’s not a horse you want to fall in love with on raw form, but the setup says she gets the soft run while others are burning petrol from awkward gates.
Aniketos is the other one I keep coming back to, mostly because Dylan Dunn taking the ride hints they’ve come here to be competitive rather than to have a look. I checked the last 90 days for Aniketos and there’s no recent run recorded in this feed window, so you’re betting more on placement than momentum.
The danger is Nedhammer Hen, who placed on his only start at Moe. That’s not enough to call it track form, but it’s at least a sign he handles the place, and he’s one of the few in the field with a line in the sand.
Staking: Small win bet Lady Lopez. If you’re a cautious type, make it a watch race and keep your powder dry.
Race 2: Lavish By P & Co Mdn Plate — 13:30, 1331m
Here’s the puzzle: do you want the horse with the right gate and the right stable, or the one that’s simply been closer to winning? I lean to Mahrajan from barrier 1. The Hayes stable brings runners to these meetings to win, not to educate, and the inside draw lets them ride it like a confident horse.
On exposed form, Kadesh reads as the main danger. The 38-32 pattern says she’s in the zone now and Jye McNeil is a serious booking around Moe, where he’s ridden plenty of winners and places for the amount of rides he’s had.
Mighty Mystic has placed in its only Moe start, which is worth a mention, but it’s still only one run and it draws 14. That’s the sort of map that forces you into the wrong spots at the wrong time unless you’ve got a good horse.
Staking: Win bet Mahrajan, but keep it sensible. If the price is skinny, I’d rather back Kadesh each-way than take unders about an inside draw.
Race 3: Ladbrokes Mega Multi Mdn Plate — 14:00, 1112m
This is the speed test, and it’s messy because we’ve got a bunch of lightly exposed types and a few with enough miles to have habits. I’m siding with Seven Day Rebels. A last-start second is the one piece of form in the field that screams readiness, and the 1112m trip is perfect for a runner that can hold a spot and kick.
The danger is Vintell, who comes off a last-start third. The catch is barrier 15. Over these short trips, that’s not a small inconvenience, it’s the whole story. If Lachlan King can slot in without spending, Vintell can win. If he can’t, it’s a run that looks better on replay than on the result sheet.
Delavega also comes in off a third, and you get Jye McNeil, who rides this track well. If you’re building multiples, Delavega is the safe include because the jockey does enough right early.

Race 4: Immerse Within Mdn Plate — 14:30, 1780m
The shape here suits the horse that can keep improving through the line, and that pushes me straight to Ngongotaha. The form line of 4322 is a big neon sign: it’s not a flash horse, but it’s honest and it’s right there every time. I pulled the last 90 days and it backs it up: four runs, three placings, and an average finishing position of 2.0. That’s proper consistency, not luck.
The danger is A Long Story Short, who has placed on its only Moe start and comes in off an 831 sequence. The worry is that 831 can be a horse that found a soft race, found the right tempo, and then got found out when things got tougher. Still, Ruby Lamont’s claim and the gate (2) give it a genuine chance to pinch this if they control it.
Don’t ignore The Decembrist from barrier 1 either. It’s not as compelling on exposed form, but it gets the exact kind of economical run that wins these staying-ish maidens at Moe.
Staking: Win bet Ngongotaha. That’s the race I’m happiest to bet into on the card.

Race 5: Gippsland Finance Solutions (Bm66) — 15:00, 1780m
This is the meeting’s proper betting race because it’s got form you can line up. I’m with Infinite Jest. He’s placed in both Moe visits and won one of them, and that’s enough to say he handles the circuit without pretending he’s a specialist. More importantly, his recent form reads like a horse at the right level: he’s been finishing in the money, and he doesn’t need everything to go right to run his race.
He also gets a map that makes sense. Barrier 3 in a 1780m race lets J Noonan ride positively without panic, and that matters because a few of these will want the same midfield spots.
The danger is Queensbury, who keeps finding the line (1-85223). That’s the profile of a horse that’s either about to win, or one that’s learned how to run second and third. If the speed is steady and Queensbury can build into it from the 600m, it can absolutely roll over the top of Infinite Jest.
Staking: Win bet Infinite Jest. Exacta saver with Queensbury running second if you want to be cute, but the main play is straight out.
Race 6: Clearview Radiology (Bm62) — 15:30, 2676m
Staying races at this level often come down to one thing: who’s actually fit enough for it. I’m going with Phantom’s Chase. Five runs in the last 90 days with a win and three placings is a hard profile to knock, and the overall strike reads like a horse that’s thriving rather than surviving. You’re not guessing about intent either, because this is exactly the kind of race a stable targets when they’ve got a grinder in form.
The main danger is Furtherest Point. It comes off a win earlier in its recent form string and sits with a stable that does well getting these types to peak at the right time. The risk is it’s been hovering around without finishing the job lately, so you’re paying for the name and the stable as much as the recent results.
If you want something at odds, Silver Pledge is the blowout type who can improve sharply if the tempo turns into a test. The booking of Neil Farley is a positive in that scenario because he rides Moe well enough when the race becomes a stamina contest.
Staking: Win bet Phantom’s Chase. If the track is playing leaderish late, save on Furtherest Point.
The plays
NAP: Ngongotaha (Race 4, 14:30). Four straight placings leading in, and the 1780m looks the right stage of the campaign for it to finally get paid.
Value: Phantom’s Chase (Race 6, 15:30). The recent 90-day profile is the kind you can bet again and again in these staying handicaps: racing often, holding form, and still winning.
Banker for multis: Infinite Jest (Race 5, 15:00). Two Moe starts for a win and a second is about as close as you get to reliable track evidence on this card.
Each-way angle: Kadesh (Race 2, 13:30). The 38-32 pattern says she’s right on the edge, and Jye McNeil is the kind of jockey that turns “close enough” into “good enough” here.
Course angle: Jye McNeil has ridden eight times at Moe for two wins and four placings. When you’re unsure in a maiden, that’s the sort of edge worth paying for with your staking.
Keep an eye on how the wide gates fare in the first three races. If they’re getting across without paying, it changes how you should bet the back end of the meeting next time Moe rolls around.
