Race-by-race

Strong Minded looks the right horse to start the day, and the reason isn’t sexy: he’s simply the one with a profile that says he can land in the first half and keep finding. He draws gate 3, which matters more than people admit in low-grade staying maidens: it lets Holder make one decision instead of three. Holder is a strong Strathalbyn rider in the place sense too, running top four almost 43% of the time from 28 rides. David Jolly and Justin Potter also get the job done here often enough to be feared, winning a tick over a quarter of their runners at the track from 11 starters.
I’m saving on Or Am I. She keeps turning up and hitting the finish, and the light weight (115.7) is a genuine lever if the leaders pinch cheap sectionals. She’s been running into the placings without breaking through, and that can be a trap, but in these races a horse that keeps giving you an honest 200m can win when the others don’t stay.

The market will probably gravitate to the Stokes runners because they’re the stable with intent on the card, and honestly, that’s fair. Polar Eyes looks the most reliable way to bet the race. Barrier 9 isn’t ideal, but at least you’re backing a horse that already knows how to take a position and fight it out.
