Swan Hill Racing Tips 21 April — can Rawiller boss the staying double?
The most actionable angle at Swan Hill today is the late staying pair over 2625m, where you’ve got two very different profiles staring at each other across the map. One arrives as a last start winner who already knows how to win here. The other walks in off consecutive wins and draws to control his own story. That’s the kind of clash I can actually bet into, not just admire.
There are five races on the turf, and while the early maidens are the usual mix of promise and pain, the card gets properly bettable once we hit the two staying contests. Below are my Swan Hill racing tips, written the way I’d talk it through with a mate: what the race is going to feel like at the 600m, who gets the run, and where the risk sits.

Swan Hill — the setup
We don’t have much deep course history across today’s fields. Plenty of these have only one or two Swan Hill runs in the book, so I’m treating most of the track numbers as context rather than a crutch.
One thing that does matter: the riders. There’s enough volume here to trust a few patterns, and it lines up with how this meeting reads on paper. If you’re playing Swan Hill predictions seriously, you want a jockey who can make a decision early and stick to it, especially in the staying races.

Race-by-race tips
Race 1: Bet365 Same Race Multi Mdn Plate — 13:30, 1066m
Yuuki is the one I want to be with, and I don’t think you need to overcomplicate it. The form line says she keeps turning up and putting herself in the finish, and from barrier 3 she gets every chance to land in the first four without burning petrol. In a 1066m maiden, that’s half the job done.
Holly Coffey climbs aboard and she rides this track well enough over a proper sample, with 11 rides here and a solid handful of winners and placings. That matters more than a flashy horse stat off one course run.
The danger is Scoobartie. Rawiller takes the steering and that booking changes the tone of a maiden instantly. The horse has been knocking on the door, and if Rawiller can hold a closer spot from gate 7, he’s the one who can make your pick look flat-footed late.
Staking: Win bet Yuuki. Small saver quinella with Scoobartie if you want protection against the Rawiller factor.
Race 2: Jarrod Arentz Electrical & Solar Solutions Mdn Plate — 14:00, 1312m
Here’s the question: do you want the horse who’s had plenty of chances, or the one who’s lightly exposed and can jump forward from the inside? I’m leaning to Celtic Light because barrier 1 gives Alana Kelly the right to be positive, and this race doesn’t scream depth.
The recent record is modest but serviceable for this grade, and the key is that it’s not a horse that needs everything to go wrong for others. If she holds a spot and presents at the top of the straight, she’ll get her chance.
Distant Stripes is the danger. He keeps showing up around the money and if they run this at an even tempo, he’s the sort that can grind past tired legs when others are looking for a sprint.
Staking: Each-way Celtic Light. Keep it simple and keep the outlay sensible, it’s still a maiden.
Race 3: Ultima Hotel Mdn Plate — 14:30, 1422m
The market will try to tell you this is clearer than it is. I’m treating it as a race where position beats brilliance, and that pushes me towards Cape Radstock from gate 1. Jack Hill can hold the fence, save ground, and make it a proper test for those drawn wider who need to work early.
Nathan Hobson has a stack of runners through Swan Hill and, over a meaningful sample, he lands plenty in the frame here. He’s got a few in this meeting as well, which always makes you respect the placement.
The one that can spoil the cosy run is Cheers To Us. She’s shown enough to suggest she can sustain a run rather than rely on a cheap sprint, and Cassidy Hill can time it if the leaders overdo it.
Staking: Win bet Cape Radstock, but keep stakes moderate. If you’re a quinella player, box Cape Radstock and Cheers To Us.
Race 4: Footts Swan Hill Demolition Group Mdn Plate — 15:00, 2625m
This is the best betting race on the card because it’s the first time today we’re dealing with a proper staying shape. Barriers and who gets to breathe matter, and I want He’s On Song settling where he can roll into it without being pushed out of his comfort zone.
He’s been competitive without landing the knockout, and stepping into 2625m can be the making of a horse like this. From gate 7, Holly Coffey has options: he can slide across if the pace is steady, or drop in and build if they overcook it early.
My Rosalie is the clear danger. Rawiller takes over, and his Swan Hill record is strong enough to take seriously. If he finds cover from gate 3 and turns it into a staying sprint from the 600m, he’s the one you don’t want to be standing against.
Staking: Win bet He’s On Song. Saver exacta He’s On Song and My Rosalie both ways if your bankroll allows.

Race 5: Busbiz.Net.Au (Bm62) — 15:30, 2625m
The contrast is obvious and it’s why this is a cracking closer. Prince Pinot arrives chasing a hat trick and draws barrier 1, which is the dream scenario in a 2625m handicap. If Rawiller controls the speed, half the field will be in trouble before they even straighten.
I’ve got no issue with the recent form either. In his last couple he’s done the winning, and even though the raw percentages don’t mean much off two recent runs, the message is clear: he’s thriving right now.
Flashlight is the danger and he’s the one I’d be most scared of if you’re taking a hard set on Prince Pinot. He won on his only start at Swan Hill and he’s been in the money more often than not in recent months. Patrick Payne places them well here too, and that yard tends to know exactly when a horse is ready to back up good work.
One more for your trifectas: Earl Of Gloucester. He’s the type who can keep whacking away when the leaders get tired, and barrier 6 keeps him out of the worst traffic.
Staking: Win bet Prince Pinot. If you want to play safer, go a smaller win and a saver on Flashlight.
The plays
NAP: He’s On Song (Race 4, 15:00). It’s the first proper staying test of the day and his profile suits a race where positioning and rhythm matter more than a quick 400m burst.
Value: Celtic Light (Race 2, 14:00) each-way. Barrier 1 plus a winnable maiden is often the best value combination on a country card, especially when others have to spend fuel to find a spot.
Banker for multis: Prince Pinot (Race 5, 15:30). Two wins on the bounce, inside gate, Rawiller riding a track he does well at. That’s the safest shape on the meeting.
Each-way anchor: Yuuki (Race 1, 13:30). She maps to get a soft run and she’s been around the mark often enough to trust her to have a crack.
Course angle to keep: When Rawiller turns up at Swan Hill, he’s not sightseeing. If he gets a soft lead in the last two, he can win both staying races without ever looking like he’s out of second gear.
