TATTERSALLS TIARA BETTING SNAPSHOT
It is the three-year-old, Opal Ridge, that has been installed as the $3.80 popular elect with betright after the barrier draw ahead of another youngster, Ruthless Dame, who is at the $5.50. Chaillot heads a host of others in double figures and is at $10.
The Peter Moody-trained Chain Of Lightning is an $11 hope after running 6th in the Stradbroke Handicap (1400m), while Comrade Rosa is at $12. There are 17 runners in action as well as five emergencies. Foxy Frida is at $13, while the Eye Liner Stakes (1350m) winner, Lady Of Honour, heads the rest at the $17.
TATTERSALLS TIARA FORM ANALYSIS
11 runners come out of the Dane Ripper Stakes (1300m) that was held at Eagle Farm on June 10, including the race favourite, Opal Ridge, who was runner-up in the Group 2 lead up behind Comrade Rosa.
She drew barrier 11 in that race and was posted wide throughout, producing the fastest 400m-200m split before the tough run caught up with her. Comrade Rosa settled handy and overcame a bit of traffic early in the straight. She has to be considered and has won four of her past five races with all of those wins coming at Eagle Farm. The Tony Gollan mare is unbeaten in four starts at the track.
There are a number in the beaten brigade out of the Dane Ripper Stakes that might be open to improvement with less than two lengths separating the first 10 past the post. Aureus Angel was solid for 3rd from well back but might not sneak into the field. She’s All Class is one of two in the race for the Maher/Eustace stable and was held up en route to finishing 4th.
I suspect the likes of Roots (5th) and Mirra Vision (6th) can measure up. Both were fresh off more than two months without a run. Mirra Vision led before just fading late. She was unlucky in the Coolmore Classic (1500m) when second up earlier in the autumn. The Dane Ripper was run at a very slow tempo early on and the winner went just 1.4 lengths slower than standard benchmark.
That is well off what some of the Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) runners produced on the same day with Palaisapan (4th), Ruthless Dame (5th) and Chain Of Lightning (6th) all going more than five lengths faster than standard benchmark. Ruthless Dame was a real eye catcher in that race, producing the second fastest last 200m after getting a mile back. She was a winner in the Robert Sangster Stakes (1200m) prior to that, going 10 lengths faster than standard benchmark.
Chain Of Lightning was wide throughout in the Stradbroke and draws better this time around but Palaisapan will have to do it from out wide. Best last start benchmark figures belong to Chaillot. The locally trained galloper was fresh in the Kingsford Smith Cup, going 7.1 lengths faster than standard when running on for 5th.
Electric Girl creates interest. She was a winner at Group 2 level when fresh back in February, going more than 10 lengths faster than standard to claim the Millie Fox Stakes (1300m) at Rosehill before running 3rd behind Artorius in the Canterbury Stakes (1300m). The Team Hawkes galloper must be considered on those runs and comes in with a winning trial.
Foxy Frida is a last start winner, taking out the National Classic over the 1600m at Eagle Farm on June 3. She has won three of four runs this time in and just needs to overcome the wide barrier. Lady Of Honour is another last start winner and is on the back-up after scoring at Listed level. The Ben & JD Hayes-trained galloper is one of host of chances in what is an open race.
TATTERSALLS TIARA TIPS AND BEST BETS
Plenty of hopes here and the likes of Mirra Vision and Electric Girl are not without a chance. Expect that pair to settle in the first few alongside the last start winner, Lady Of Honour. I really like the way Ruthless Dame is going but just wouldn’t have minded seeing the Maher/Eustace filly draw a better barrier. Opal Ridge deserves favouritism but the value for mine lies with Chain Of Lightning. The four-year-old worked home well behind Ruthless Dame two starts ago in the Robert Sangster Stakes (1200m) at Morphettville and was unlucky not to land closer that day. In the Stradbroke, the daughter of Fighting Sun drew wide and was posted out without cover before sticking on for 6th. She comes out of some stronger races than the others and will end up somewhere around barrier 6 after the removal of emergencies. She represents value at the quote.
